Summary
When Robby blinks awake, the room is dark, but the slits of light intruding from the gaps in the curtains are brighter than they were the last time he woke.
It doesn’t feel like much time has passed since then, disturbed then by Jack’s return home after his shift. He hadn’t stayed awake for too long though, just welcomed the kiss pressed to the side of his mouth and let Jack collapse down onto the empty side of the bed, before he’d sunk back into the warmth of Dennis curled up into his side, and the satisfaction that both of his partner (his husband and their boyfriend) were safe home and sleeping.
It’s Dennis who’s awake now, who’s woken him as he gingerly tries to detangle himself from Robby’s embrace, blonde curls ruffled as he blinks blearily up at him.

Coming off a night shift is hard.
The transition from night to day sucks, coming home at daylight, waking up to the fading lights, the exhaustion that seems to permeate every fibre of Dennis’ being?
He hates it.
So much.
He hates trying to play catch-up with his circadian rhythm, hates trying to sleep as little as possible so he can reinstate himself into a daytime routine, it just sucks so much.

5+1 things, in which Dennis is sick/injured/etc, and everyone else made it their problem. And the one time Dennis came to them because he was down so bad, but they were happy he finally trusted them before he bit the dust.

The door burst open and a familiar voice was heard, “Robby?! What the fuck is going on—” Jack shouted, having heard Robby scream for help, before coming to an abrupt stop, the sight before him resembling a nightmare, “—Jesus Christ.” He choked."

Gloria finds out that Dennis & Robby & Jack are together a few months before Dennis becomes an intern rather that med student, she says that she won't tell anyone but that if the higher-ups ever found out that Dennis would be fired immediately. So she suggests to be extra careful until Dennis is no longer a med student. Robby starts panicking that they will accidentally ruin Dennis's career, so he tells Jack they need to break up with him. Jack disagrees but Robby gives him an ultimatum--me or him. They break up with Dennis. A month goes by and Dennis isn't doing good, but it all comes to a head when a patient gets violent.

Dennis hurts. He isn’t hurt. There is nothing wrong with his body. Yet his heart was so heavy it hurt. Deep black sludge tried to pump through his veins, preventing blood to reach his hands. Clumsy fingers reach for his phone. The screen showed him the time. 1.43 am. The light was so bright in made his eyes water but no real tears fall. He wished, he could cry. He wished, he could be held and sob and hurt in a strong embrace. He wished for somebody to choose him, to stay with him in these horribly lonely nights. There was nobody. Nobody ever chose him. He was rotten inside. Everybody told him that. His parents, his brothers, the priest in his home town. Years passed since he spoke to them but their words still rung deep within his soul.
