    Series 2/2✅

    First Work Summary:
Charlie reads about it obsessively when Nick isn’t here, because of course he does. He’s always been driven to understand things; understanding begets control begets safety. He can’t really find any convincing organic explanation, though, despite his efforts. He’s flirted with time dilation, and dualistic philosophy, and astral projection, and even the concept of entangled quantum states, with its qubits and vector space. None of it sticks though; in truth, the very fact of Nick, now, in his bed, is the most convincing evidence for the existence of a soul that Charlie has ever found.

In which Nick dreams, and Charlie waits.

    Summary

Once the room clears, Nick takes a deep breath. “So, half-term. How have your exams been going?”

    “Can I suck you off?”

Charlie is patient as Nick does a double-take at his request, staggering back and knocking over a bottle of tequila. He sips his vodka lemonade and waits.

    “What, er—now?!” Nick splutters.

“Why not?” He’s emboldened now. This loop is quickly becoming hell on earth, but maybe it doesn’t have to be, not all the time. There are no consequences for him in the loop. Anything he does is forgotten the next day. Nick could scream at him, punch him in the nose, do whatever he wants—tomorrow, he’ll still be here, serving him a vodka lemonade with a shy smile. What has he got to lose?

    Series 3/3✅

    First Work Summary:
Every evening, Nick sprawls on his bedroom floor and listens to the drums.

The first time he’d heard the loud, echoing sound in his head, he’d started crying and ran to his mother. She’d wiped away his tears and smoothed out his hair, and then explained that whenever his soulmate played or listened to music, he would hear it too.

After that, the drums never scared him again.
