Summary
Lex Luthor has sponsored the new wing of the Metropolis Science Museum, and Clark and Bruce both suspect foul play. While in the geology exhibit, they discover an unknown strand of kryptonite, which cripples Clark almost immediately. Bruce drags him away, but just as they're catching their breath, a mysterious gunman fires on Clark from the shadows, piercing his heart with a bullet, specially made from Luthor's new find.
Bruce gets Clark to a safe house and manages to extract the bullet, but not before saving Clark from its strange effects. When he wakes up, Clark recognizes Bruce. But not as his caped companion, or a fellow member of the League. They aren't competitors, allies, or even just friends.
According to Clark, Bruce Wayne is his husband.

There's a man standing beside the check-out counter, making catty comments about every customer's purchase that passes by. The man makes no effort to move out of the way or keep his voice down, but no one seems to notice, or if they do, they don't seem to care. Maybe he does this a lot, maybe his ranting has become as ingrained to the shop as the grey carpeted floor, the lights overhead, the dusty greige paint on the walls. So obvious that he just fades into the background, unheard and unnoticed.

In all the years that Jeremy hung out with Michael, he has seen the many different ways strangers react to simply existing near Jeremy's best friend. The most common ones being an utter look of disgust fellow customers at Ted's Diner make when Michael pours relish and mustard onto his pancakes, and the awed gaze younger kids at the arcade wear while Michael nonchalantly beats the high score on the most difficult games there. But there's one look that Jeremy never thought he'd see aimed at his childhood pal, and definitely not while he dipped his hot dog into his multi-flavored slushie at a 7/11. So there Jeremy stood, glaring at this corner store cashier, wondering why the hell this guy was giving Michael the horniest look that he'd ever seen in his life.
