The anxiety that crept in his bones kept him from looking at the time he had left until arrival, just letting himself believe that the road was his new home, that the stolen money and money earned from unspeakable moments was always in his possession. That nothing had really happened in Houston, Dave just decided to go on a road trip alone. With pills upon pills of things he didn't bother to google what they were for. Just keep taking, just keep swallowing.

How many days had it been by now?
Easy. 648 days, 10 hours, 47 minutes, 13 seconds, 14 seconds, 15–you get it. That's how long Dave had been stuck wandering the crannies of this shit hole rock and killing time. Counting seconds. Every grating tick. Being so painfully aware of each second is honestly grueling.
Counting every passing minute against his will, watching the time go by. Wandering the same dark rooms and halls, talking to the same handful of people, over and over.
Dave found it funny, how he'd gotten himself out of one isolated prison and into another. Escaped Bro’s creep lair only to get stuck on a nearly empty rock hurtling toward certain danger. Leaving broken timelines and dead versions of himself scattered across time.
All while having to maintain the same stupid schtick. Dave grew tired of his own nonsense sometimes. When he was alone and tired from keeping up the mask, the weight would hit him. The jokes and quippy remarks can only distract him for so long. Eventually it all starts to drag on him. The weight of every action, every inaction, every trauma beyond control.

Dave Strider, unfortunately, never had the chance to heed this warning when a group of young 'trolls' crashed their escape pod in a field behind his house. With several of the aliens injured and possibly sick, Dave decides to take them in, while keeping them hidden. But now, Dave and his teenage friends are caught between a dangerous government investigation, and a tyrannical alien empress who would rip apart the universe the find the runaway traitors, and kill them.
