Summary
“Would you stop staring,” Bilbo hissed, for the fifth time since service had started. “He’s not about to grow horns.”
Bofur looked guiltily away from the door, and scuttled back over to the tail end of appetiser prep. “Just checkin’ if he liked the amuse-bouche.”
“Well,” Bilbo scowled, “We have an entire restaurant to feed, not just Mister Durin, and Lobelia’s in a fine mood tonight, so if I don’t keep you at prep, she’ll light your tail with the blowtorch, I don’t wonder.”

Summary
After years of traveling to Erebor to celebrate the New Year with his dwarven friends, Bilbo Baggins decides that the time has come to stay in the Shire. He has certain familial obligations that have gone unaddressed for too long. Specifically, an orphaned nephew who needs him. Much as he will miss the Durin's Day celebrations, and a certain dwarf in particular, his travels must end. Fortunately, that does not preclude others from traveling to visit him.

Summary
There's a certain point where you can no longer ask someone what their name is. Thorin isn't sure exactly when that point is, but he knows that it's probably some time before the person in question saves your life. On the far side of the Misty Mountains, Thorin realizes that he never quite caught the first part of Mr. Baggins' name, and he finds that it's astonishingly harder to learn than he would have thought. Fili, Kili, and Dwalin are no help whatsoever.

Funny as fuck and also the exact type of writing that I LOVE. If I’d written this my ego would be unmanageable. Just such a good piece of story in such a well tailored style, confident and content in itself and yet still ambitiously and unexpectedly fun

Summary
“Tell me, what sort of music do you listen to?” Thorin asks him, raising an eyebrow. “Do you prefer glam or thrash?”
“I—what? Simon & Garfunkel is my favorite band. I like The Smiths if I’m in a bit of a strop, Bowie if I’m feeling adventurous, I suppose,” Bilbo answers, aware there might be a note of snark coloring his words because, well. He was set up, meant to sound like a fool no matter how he answered, and he does not appreciate rude conversational traps like that. He does not appreciate anything about this situation. He does not appreciate the small, crooked, tight-lipped smile that flashes across Thorin’s face at his response, and he does not appreciate the way it makes his stomach drop.
or,
After his eccentric advisor deliberately botches Bilbo's housing application, he is forced to sublet a room with thirteen metal heads living in a condemned frat. He barely expects to survive the journey, let alone fall in love.

Nobody seemed to think there was anything strange about her when she came out of Josh's office--she was often in the office for extended periods after long pow-wows with Josh, carrying out instructions or gathering information--and after the first ten minutes or so, she stopped wondering if she smelled like her boss had gone down on her.

"Can I say something ghoulish?" Robby asked, soft in that way he got when he was ashamed of himself.
"Brother, you can say anything you want," Jack shot back, easy.
"You know what I mean."
"Aren't we past this? Like, years past this? And besides, I've seen into the deepest, darkest, blackest pit of human depravity; if you say anything that even rates, I will be impressed."

Summary
Three different moments in Robby and Abbot’s relationship—when they first meet, when they make a mistake, and when they finally get it together.
The first time Jack Abbot meets Michael Robinavitch doesn’t actually happen in the ED, and he won’t realize how strange that is until years later. They meet during their General Surgery rotation, as it happens.
Both of them are med students with something of a reputation—Robinavitch for apparently having done a rockstar turn in his ED rotation and collecting accolades and a mentor even though he’s barely just an MS4; Jack, of course, because he’s a “jarhead”, nevermind that he’s a goddamned Navy Corpsman and he only serves with Marines but he isn’t actually one of them.

Summary
The night before his very first shift as an MS3 in PTMC, Robby meets a guy at a bar and goes home with him—it's perfect, but it's definitely just a one-night stand, especially when he bumps into the guy in the hospital the next morning: Jack Abbot, MS4, who doesn't even seem to remember Robby. Many, many years later, the Pitt Christmas after-party is at the same seedy bar, and it turns out Jack did remember, after all.

“This is Thrawn.”
“Hello sir,” Eli replied. Likely out in public- though Eli did have an adorable habit of calling him 'sir' even when they were alone. “I have an update on the situation.”
“Proceed.”
“The good news is the busted cooling unit isn't some half-hearted attempt to assassinate you- the whole hotel's doing without right now. Repairs are underway.”
“And the bad news?”
“Estimated Time of Completion is two more hours.”
Thrawn groaned.

Cody picked up the voice comm with bad grace. It wasn’t his standard-issue device. “Hello, dear,” he said, sounding exasperated.
Rex blinked, because Cody was speaking Mando’a, which meant Wooley had done a double take but Anakin hadn’t even looked up from the holoscreen.
Obi-Wan goes undercover. Cody takes some calls. These two facts are absolutely not related.

Summary
“Hello, Thrawn,” Eli bids him, a smile shaping his lips, the heat he feels in his chest echoed in the curve of his mouth, the way his eyes resist the urge to gloss over with some amalgamation of emotion that demands to manifest in the precursor to tears.
He sees the subtle shift as Thrawn lowers his guard. He takes one step, another half dozen, and they clasp forearms, their fingers squeezing tightly. Eli leans in, his left arm comes up and around to brace Thrawn's back in the briefest, most professional version of an embrace he can offer: a compromise between Human sentimentality and Chiss stoicism.
Or, a story about finding something you hadn't realized you'd lost in the first place.
