Summary
Obi-Wan’s expression slipped minutely, and he shifted in his seat. “She didn’t believe in it, you know.”
Cody frowned. “What, the Force?”
Obi-Wan’s lip twitched. “No, the Mandalorian afterlife. She said that it justified violence.”
———
Cody and Obi-Wan have a conversation about Mando’a, heaven, and the death of Satine Kryze.

Summary
Maybe it was weakness; a delusion Castiel had talked himself into for peace of mind. But he was coming around to the idea that maybe — just maybe — Chuck Shurley had been a deluded liar. In fact, the more he thought on it, the more he became convinced that the immensity of God and all that God implied could not possibly have been summarily contained in one short, petty megalomaniac.
Is it that thou art wholly everywhere whilst nothing altogether contains thee?
Chuck had always hated Castiel. He’d wanted him dead. And the God who lovingly put Castiel back together in 2010 did not have a beard.
It was all so damn confusing.

“Sir?”
“Call me Obi-Wan.”
Cody’s chest clenched, and he let the name rest on his tongue before he spoke it. “Obi-Wan.”
“Yes, Cody?”
An impulse streaked across Cody’s mind and he grasped it, steeling himself as it bloomed from an impulse to a need. “Can I— would you give me something? Before you go?”
———
Obi-Wan forewarns Cody about the Hardeen mission. Sometime’s it’s easier to say goodnight than goodbye. Written for CWFKB2025.

Summary
“Would you stop staring,” Bilbo hissed, for the fifth time since service had started. “He’s not about to grow horns.”
Bofur looked guiltily away from the door, and scuttled back over to the tail end of appetiser prep. “Just checkin’ if he liked the amuse-bouche.”
“Well,” Bilbo scowled, “We have an entire restaurant to feed, not just Mister Durin, and Lobelia’s in a fine mood tonight, so if I don’t keep you at prep, she’ll light your tail with the blowtorch, I don’t wonder.”

Summary
After years of traveling to Erebor to celebrate the New Year with his dwarven friends, Bilbo Baggins decides that the time has come to stay in the Shire. He has certain familial obligations that have gone unaddressed for too long. Specifically, an orphaned nephew who needs him. Much as he will miss the Durin's Day celebrations, and a certain dwarf in particular, his travels must end. Fortunately, that does not preclude others from traveling to visit him.

Summary
There's a certain point where you can no longer ask someone what their name is. Thorin isn't sure exactly when that point is, but he knows that it's probably some time before the person in question saves your life. On the far side of the Misty Mountains, Thorin realizes that he never quite caught the first part of Mr. Baggins' name, and he finds that it's astonishingly harder to learn than he would have thought. Fili, Kili, and Dwalin are no help whatsoever.

Funny as fuck and also the exact type of writing that I LOVE. If I’d written this my ego would be unmanageable. Just such a good piece of story in such a well tailored style, confident and content in itself and yet still ambitiously and unexpectedly fun

Summary
“Tell me, what sort of music do you listen to?” Thorin asks him, raising an eyebrow. “Do you prefer glam or thrash?”
“I—what? Simon & Garfunkel is my favorite band. I like The Smiths if I’m in a bit of a strop, Bowie if I’m feeling adventurous, I suppose,” Bilbo answers, aware there might be a note of snark coloring his words because, well. He was set up, meant to sound like a fool no matter how he answered, and he does not appreciate rude conversational traps like that. He does not appreciate anything about this situation. He does not appreciate the small, crooked, tight-lipped smile that flashes across Thorin’s face at his response, and he does not appreciate the way it makes his stomach drop.
or,
After his eccentric advisor deliberately botches Bilbo's housing application, he is forced to sublet a room with thirteen metal heads living in a condemned frat. He barely expects to survive the journey, let alone fall in love.

Summary
Nobody seemed to think there was anything strange about her when she came out of Josh's office--she was often in the office for extended periods after long pow-wows with Josh, carrying out instructions or gathering information--and after the first ten minutes or so, she stopped wondering if she smelled like her boss had gone down on her.
