Summary
Steve’s parents stopped coming home for Christmas in the winter of 1979.
After that, he always spent Christmas at the Hagans, until he imploded his friendship with Tommy just before the Christmas of 1983.
He spends that year with the Wheelers and the Christmas of '84 with the Hendersons.
The next year, when Dustin tells him that he's going out of town to visit his Aunt, Steve gears up for his first Christmas truly alone. That is, until he receives a phone call from Lucas Sinclair and ends up spending it with the most unlikely of people.

Steve somehow ends up celebrating the Christmas of 1985 with Max and Eddie 'the Freak' Munson and it just might be his favorite Christmas yet.

Eddie ignores the flip flopping in his stomach as he meets Steve’s gaze and fits his palms to either side of Steve’s jaw. Cradles his face like he’s something special now. (Because he is.)
And then he leans in to kiss him. Right on those pretty pink lips of his.
It’s short and sweet like it always is, but when Eddie pulls back and opens his eyes, he’s met with Steve’s, wide as fucking saucers, goggling unblinkingly back at him. He can feel Robin’s stare boring into the side of his face, can feel the tiny pinpricks of Nancy’s and Jonathan’s and Argyle’s on his back too. The whole room is quiet enough to hear a god damn pin drop.
Eddie is about to open his mouth and ask what the hell that’s all about when it finally catches up with him.
He just fucking kissed Steve fucking Harrington. On the mouth.

Eddie gasps and the other members of Hellfire gape at Steve, Gareth having gotten up and joined them standing behind Eddie.
“Sweetheart, oh my god the phone cut and you never called back, it's been like 2 weeks? What the hell.” Eddie steps closer like he's going to go for a hug and Steve steps back.
