    In District 12, there was only one clinic and a single overworked doctor. For most, that was already out of reach. When coin was tight—and it always was—people turned to the Everdeens, the known healers. For generations, the poor and wounded had gone to their doorstep, where poultices and boiled roots stood in place of scalpels, and skill was passed down through careful hands and memory.
