Looking back, Raph can count all the red flags he missed and hates himself a little more for each one. Leo sometimes causes problems for fun, and he likes to see what trouble he can get away with or get himself out of, and he is a downright menace to society when he’s bored—but he’s good. He’s sweet, and charming, and wants to help.
Leo wouldn’t have raised an issue with the other group of mutants, potentially cutting ties with useful allies, unless he had a decent reason to.

It’s ironic, and another thought that’s hung around his mind like a bad smell, to return to the East Blue from the Grand Line, to trade a notoriously tricky sea for a simpler one, and then to lose his crew to home waters.
“Your son is lucky then,” the captain adds. Zeff blanches. Little surprises him, but at that Zeff nearly chokes.
“He’s not my son,” he sputters.

Sanji has never had a home or a dad before the Baratie. Zeff is figuring that out for himself.

They’re a turtle. Dark green skin, yellow markings - whorls of color that stretch from temple to jaw and disappear into the cowl around their neck, and a glare that could strip paint-
But part of that glare is the same brown eyes they all have. Dad’s eyes.
One of their siblings is alive.
Or, the Hamatos find one of their missing siblings in the care of Big Mama. Integrating her into the family proves to be a little more complicated than initially expected.
(Or, one very lonely turtle finds the family she never knew she had, and they are a bunch of weirdos.)

It’s a messy tangle of ungainly limbs as they stretch into each other’s space with practiced ease. To any outside observer, this group of monstrous fighters would appear as something entirely different — a pile of sleeping teenagers who practically radiate an aura of soft intimacy.

So maybe there's consequences for your actions. Leo's still getting used to the concept, sue him, he didn't sign up to be leader. Raph did, but now Raph won't take it back because unfortunately for everyone Leo's doing kind of well in the leadership department. He's suffering from success. It's a tough life.
They're all tired and hungry, and Leo feels that in every aching bone. Sadly, no pizza joints are open — the true hallmark of a nearly averted apocalypse, people are focused on all the wrong things: friends, family, homes, and not what some sad and weird sewer turtles are going to eat for dinner (nothing at this rate).

Namely, how unlike the other members of the family that were lost in the Apocalypse, Casey didn’t know anything about him, like the rat was a stranger to him. Could it be that he had messed up so much as a father that not even his own family wanted to remember him in the future?
With that realization, he sets off to do one thing: fixing those relationships before it’s too late.
