I really like this premise. Most "modern setting" fics don't involve the sci-fi and/or fantasy aspects of a world at all, let alone what looks like a possible soulmate AU of sorts, but this manages to have the "modern setting" trope while still involving a lot of the core elements of the original show, and I absolutely love it.
Also everyone's dynamics, actions, and speech patterns are all in-character, which I also appreciate. Trip feels like Trip, T'Pol feels like T'Pol, Hoshi feels like Hoshi, and so on.
