Summary
Mother Miranda has tried many vessels, none of which have succeeded. She has these special, obviously virgin, girls kept at Castle Dimitrescu, where they are assessed and brainwashed, their very lives are micromanaged to attempt to ensure success. Once again the responsibility of the family falls upon Bela's shoulders as she is ordered to guard and censor one Gizi Metz, an opinionated young delight of a drug addict and more unfortunately, Mother Miranda's next virgin sacrifice. This time, the expectations chafe at Bela just a little more. She's a little less dedicated, a little more inclined towards her slowly rancour at her situation. She is tired of having to do it all while her sisters play with their maidens, tired she doesn't have a companion to call her own, tired of the fact it is the only way she can make friends, and even more tired of losing the friends she finds in these imprisoned young women. Will Gizi Metz finally be the one who breaks her? Will Bela risk everything to follow her heart, or will her head prevail?
