“What will we play today?” Viktor asked. Fortunately, Jayce has grown up in a simple family, and liked games as much any other Zaunite. Mel was an outsider, she didn’t come with the same notions of Piltover Elite. The deck was actually a Noxian one – it had way more red and gruesome pictures than one would think necessary.
“What was that one you taught us was a while ago? It was a fun one, I want to try again.” Jayce said, leaning on the table, a hand on his chin. He always liked to watch Viktor handling the cards for some reason.
Viktor gave a half smile.
“The one I learned at the brothel?”
Jayce stood straight, hilariously flustered. Mel laughed openly, not bothering to hide as she used to do.

Adrien was alone. His stomach dropped like an avalanche, and his whole body crumpled like tissue paper. The cry that tore past his lips didn’t sound human. He didn’t have words for the maelstrom of grief that overtook him.
Solid arms wrapped around him and pulled Adrien into an armored chest.
“Wayzz, shell off.”
“N-Nino?” Adrien sobbed, melting into his friend’s comforting presence.
“Hey, Kit-Kat.”
Adrien shoved himself back into Nino's arms and just cried.
“She left, Nino. She left. I knew that she would, but I hoped… I hoped I would be… enough.”
“I know, man. I know. I’m here. Her decision had nothing to do with you. You’re more than enough. I’m not going anywhere.”
“Promise?”
“Promise.”
“You’re going to be the Guardian. That might be a promise you can’t keep.”
“Adrien, look at me.”
Adrien had always seen the depths of the ocean in Ladybug’s eyes. But Nino’s golden gaze held the warmth of the sun.
