“Slipped?”
“Took a bit of a tumble, I’m afraid,” Aziraphale said. “But, well. What’s done is done.”
“What’s done - ?”
“Now that I’m no longer beholden to a rather arbitrary moral code, I have to ask: Do you pay taxes? Actually, more importantly, do you think I can stop paying taxes now? That seems like a sufficiently demonic thing to do. Refusing to do my civic duty and whatnot. Quite devious, I’d argue.”
This was, in hindsight, not the most sensitive way of breaking the news.

Summary
When Crowley is unhappy, he goes somewhere dark. He finds somewhere dark, and he flops, and he stays there until the feeling lightens enough that he can bring himself to go out.
It is not, necessarily, a good answer to his moods. Over time, when he feels the weight of unpleasant emotions bearing down on him, he learns to try to divert them before they land too heavily. Sometimes he still misses, and when they’re crushing him, he hides.

“Not that I’m not having a nice time,” Crowley says, raising his head for a moment, “but when you said you’d put on some music, this isn’t exactly the soundtrack I had in mind.”
“Shh,” Aziraphale says, and pulls him back in for another kiss. And then another, longer and deeper and tasting of mulled wine, and his hand is sliding up Crowley’s ribs under his shirt, and–- all right, maybe the Christmas carols aren’t that big of a problem.

Summary
Aziraphale is lifting off before he's thought about it. His wings are wet, approaching sodden, and he's not at all confident he'll keep aloft long enough to reach the drifting winged body, never mind hauling a half-drowned angel back to the Ark. But... well, you have to try, don't you?
Closer up, when he can see the figure as more than just a shadow against the water, he realizes he's wrong again— the spreading wings are black-feathered. No bird, and also no angel.
Black-feathered wings, and a black robe on a long, lean frame, and long red hair drifting loose in the current.
Oh. Oh, no.
In which an angel (perhaps unwisely) rescues a demon, (probably unwisely) reaches a temporary truce with him, and (definitely unwisely) contemplates his own feelings.

“Tell me,” came the temptation, the gentle brush of fingers in his hair. “Just one more time, just to be sure.”
It’s 1969 in Soho, and Shadwell feels like he’s losing control.

Summary
He couldn’t quite remember what Aziraphale smelled like anymore, the particular combination of fresh bread and sea salt and cedarwood, the caramelized sugar of crème brûlée. But even though he couldn’t remember the scent precisely, he knew the bookshop didn’t smell right. It didn’t smell like Aziraphale. It was as if he’d never been there at all.
Aziraphale disappears the night of the bookshop fire, and Crowley is left alone and grieving. But death is not always the end.
