A wolf jumped on top of them, pressing them both down onto the forest floor.
This is it, Lan Zhan thought, refusing to close his eyes, forcing himself to keep his gaze open, eyes locked onto Wei Ying’s.

The two boys looked at each other and bowed in greeting, falling in step behind the GusuLan Sect leader. They did not know where they were going, but seeing as this was Lan Xichen they were not concerned. They walked for a while, passing the Jingshi and the Hanshi, with Lan Xichen giving not even the slightest sign of stopping at any of them. They passed all the areas that were frequented by the sect as well as the guest disciples and took a very well travelled, but secluded, path.
