”I’m sayin’ ‘ave gone soft for ya’. I really did think I’d lost ya’, Si and I weren’t me. You can ask Gaz, Rudy, Price. Those two days you were missin’, holy shit Ghost, ‘ave never been so scared.”
Johnny goes limp. He rests his head on Ghost’s shoulder and slides a hand over his chest to rest over Ghost’s heart. He remembers them joking about it mere weeks ago in Las Almas, Ghost’s cold heart, but Soap didn’t care how his heart was as long as it was beating.
”You’ve always been soft for me, Johnny,” Ghost jokes lightly, tilting his head and hitting it against Soap’s gently, “But I hear you. Think this place is gettin’ to us. Las Almas fucked us both up a little more than we’re lettin’ on, yeah?”

He is gone for all of a minute, if that. Upon his return, Ghost is sat upright, hyperventilating and searching around the room from his position on the bed, as though looking to secure a weapon.
”Simon,” Soap says gently, walking back over to the bed. He is unsure if Ghost is awake or having a nightmare. He eyes the bedside table and sees that the knife is still there, meaning Ghost is likely unarmed. He steps closer, perching on the edge of the mattress, “Lt, can ya hear me?”
Ghost looks up at Johnny, a strangled cry catching in his throat as he lets out a relieved breath, “Soap? Fuck, Johnny, where were you? What happened?”

Being a part of Captain Price's Special Task Force 141 was no easy work. Often away from loved ones for extended amounts of times, dropped in the middle of nowhere, with intelligence that could crumble life and society as we know it today or could launch another world war with only your closest battle buddies being there to support you; sometimes it was someone you had only known for six months being on your six and trusting they were going to get you out alive. Being killed or captured was always a threat and work was never easy. Missions often went sideways, and you sometimes only had the supplies in your bag with the clothes on your back. Blood often stained the hands of the members of the 141, they flirted with the grim reaper often, and any distractions could risk your life on the field.
So why couldn't the tall Manchester rainstorm get the short Scotland sunshine out of his head?

First Tryst Between Friends Fic: Soap floated the idea for something of an ‘arrangement’ — [excerpt below]
Through the yellowed light of the bare bulb above, Ghost couldn’t help marveling a little at the easy way Soap smiled. Like they’d been in this position or similar a hundred times before, like hovering so close Ghost could hear him breathe was his natural place. John’s free hand drifted forward and petted Ghost pointedly through the front of his utility pants.
“Yer gonna have to be quiet and lemme work or we aren’ gonna get you taken care of fast enough. S’possed to be a quickie, Ghost.”
Riley hesitated a moment, eyes flicking down, then his hand released John’s.
The reach went right for the mask. Simon tried once more to dodge around it, and the grip settled around his throat instead, shoving his head lightly to the wall.
“Relax.” John quipped again, grinning. Palm between Ghost’s legs working more pointedly now, John crowded ever closer and forced his lieutenant’s boots further apart with a kick, “Jus’ lemme give you what we came here for, yeah?”

Shaking, Ghost lifted both hands and gestured downwards to sign the most simplistic form of begging he’d ever willingly given.
“Stay?”
Soap regarded him carefully, and Ghost knew that he was read like an open book now. With no mask to hide behind his face was marred by whatever fleeting emotion passed through his head and heart in tandem. He could hide nothing like this, and it was terrifying. He slept soundly with his mask for this very reason, and Soap just watched all the while.
He was deciding if it was worth it.
The olive branch held across the ravine that divided their lives- the opening he’d been asked to give. A promise to try.
“Can I hold you?” was a hushed challenge to test the newfound boundaries between them as Soap’s hand hovered near the door.
. . .
The aftermath and recovery of torture as Soap fished out one [1] resident stupid from the river like a half-drowned cat.
Ghost is a broken man. Soap might bloody his hands on the jagged pieces, but he puts Simon back together again at the end of the day.Series

“You don’t want me to hurt myself?” he asks, twirling the knife between his fingers, allowing it to scrape against his knuckles. Soap sighs in one heavy, fell swoop, and slowly lowers himself to his knees about three feet away from Ghost, as if getting on his level will calm him. Ghost feels his breathing slow and ignores it, forces himself to pant and whine again, because he wants to be panicked, he wants to be hurt.
“Simon, honey, come on,” Soap murmured, low and soft, words just for them and Ghost snarls, teeth bared. He doesn’t want Soap to make him feel good. “Just give me-” Soap begins and holds his hand out for the knife that Ghost is embarrassed to say he’s losing his grip on; he doesn’t think, only knows that this knife is all he has and that he doesn’t want Soap to touch him and that he wants to be big and mean and scary like everyone else finds him, everyone but Soap and Price and Alejandro and Rudy and Gaz, wants to see them side eye him with fear and concern like they used to, wants to hear them all, from where they’re stationed in the abandoned gym, watching them, fall silent as death when he turns the knife on himself.
“You don’t want me to hurt myself?” he asks again.

Of course, Ghost wasn't blind to Soap's little crush on him. In fact, he relished in it sometimes. At first, he told himself that it was nothing and he wouldn't let himself get too far into it, afraid of letting the other man get too attached and get too attached himself, but he wasn't expecting how much he enjoyed teasing reactions out of the other man.

His pace quickened when he first saw it - an abandoned tactical vest. It stood out against the snowy expanse like a bloodied nose - something that demanded attention. It called out to him as though this single article of clothing could tell him everything that had gone wrong so, so quickly.
Except it wasn’t just a vest.
He knelt down beside a winter coat that had a sizable tear in the back from where blood had seeped into the innermost fur lining.
An undershirt was next. Two, actually, as he recalled Price’s stubborn insistence that they had to bundle up tight as mummies in order to survive. Layers were key.
So why had Soap taken his off?
Ghost felt trepidation well in the pit of his stomach as he collected article after article of abandoned clothing. Some were significantly more brutalized than others. He might have even missed the lost scarf due to it having snagged itself on a tree branch.
