      “Ah, don’t look at me like that. I didn’t even get to kick you this time,” Cale scolds. “I should be the one who’s sad. Look at me. I’m aging.”

      And he smiles and Choi Han notices that it’s real. Cale often smiles. Smirks and grins and lords over people with a bright expression and even more electrifying eyes. Not all of his smiles are real, but this one is. It’s soft. Pleased. A little childishly satisfied at the thought that time is moving forwards and it’s leaving its marks in the sand.

      It’s not as if Choi Han can’t understand it. He’s nowhere near a thousand, but maybe he’s close to a hundred. And he’s still…young. There’s baby fat on his cheeks that even the Forest of Darkness couldn’t take away.

      “You’re really happy about it.”

      “I am.”

    He doesn’t mention that he’s also already fucked Ilya Rozanov twice and had a fucking tuna melt that Rozanov made and drank the ginger ale that Rozanov bought specifically for him. He doesn’t mention that they’d snuggled on the couch watching TV like some kind of couple, like boyfriends.

    They follow the same basic premise: Lukercy were in love during canon, breaking up a scant few weeks before the Battle of Olympus. This changed almost nothing, for they shared nothing of what they knew of their side's tactics; their belief in each other trumps anything and everything that could fall in their way.
    Luke locks his love for Percy away when Kronos takes his body, forces it down and away and buries it deep enough that the Titan never finds out. He will risk everything, risk the world to fix the way the gods treat their children, but he will never risk his Percy.
