Sirius finds him in the middle of the night, shaking and whispering "he’ll be good, he’ll stop crying, he’ll stop needing things, just please don’t let them take him away".
The morning brings the mandatory private interview, and Regulus breaks again, begging the healer not to change the custody order. But instead of judgement, he gets something he’s never had: reassurance. By the end of the visit he has an official report, an unofficial handwritten promise in his pocket, his dragon slippers back on his feet, and the quiet certainty that, for once, he’s in the right place, and he’s staying.
