Bugaria had been a safe haven from both Deadlanders and the usual harshness of civilisation and climate outside, the more religious associated it with the local deity, Goddess Venus, and claimed the so-called ring of thorns around Bugaria was her doing, others -many of them termites- firmly believed it was the unconfirmed "Mother Crystal" speculated to lay deep beneath termite territory, due to unusually high readings of magic in some parts of the Forsaken Lands, and others simply accepted it as an unknown.
But whatever drove Deadlanders away did not affect bugs, that was obvious, and most Bugarians themselves never bothered themselves to think on that, as it seemed unthinkable any kingdom would drive an army through the Deadlands and the ring of thorns just to appropiate their land, and especially now, as the peace and alliances between the four continental kingdoms were completely restored and strenghtened far beyond what they had ever been before.
This did not mean it was not an issue, some military minds of all four kingdoms always considered an outside threat possible, yet it was considered that there wasn't enough evidence to prove that would ever be the case.
That would change.

Here i shall not talk of those "people of art",nor of their deeds, indeed, I'm talking of the people who are cogs, that quietly work their lives in this galaxy of untold billions, where the chroniclers tell you, "there is only war and the laugh of thirsting gods", but for that war to be, those dark gods to rise, there need to be these untold billions, of whom they never tell, but I chose to make my burden to talk of this "cog-people".
This is one of their many stories, one wich will mention with name those whose names should never be written, whose small home is too little to even deserve a place in the planetary map, let alone the universe.

This fanfiction was born from frustration with how Genshin Impact portrayed native cultures — in a shallow and stereotypical way.
I began reimagining Natlan in 2024, long before it was officially released, and have been developing this world throughout 2025. My intention was always to create something more respectful, symbolic, and culturally grounded.
Here, themes like cultural erasure, ancestral spirituality, resistance, and collective trauma are not relegated to side quests no one talks about — they are the soul of the story.
Despite heavy criticism and opposition, I still believe the Natlan I’ve created offers a more thoughtful representation — one that honors not only Indigenous and Afro-descendant peoples (as should’ve been done from the start), but also my own Indigenous and Afro-descendant ancestors.
This story is my attempt to give voice to what was silenced by our own community — to imagine what could have been, if there had been real listening and not only hate.
