(i wrote this summary last rift and i don't feel like changing it)
Due to the recent event of Dead by Daylight (as well as me buying the rift pass with only 30ish days left) i’ve been playing dbd for several hours a day and as such have spent a lot of time reading and learning about different character’s lore. The chapters will be a mix of drabbles, aspects of characters I enjoy, lists of headcanons for a character, or just general ranting about aspects of the game. Mostly for my own entertainment but i’m sure you’ll find some fun reading these.
*Any shipping will be marked at the start of the chapter, I know not everyone is super interested in shipping so you’ll get a fun lil warning ahead of time. I’ll also be (for the most part) staying clear of (most) of the licensed characters as to me they aren’t as interesting/cool as the original characters since they have pre existing source material and aren’t as interesting to talk about.*

There was no documented cases of ponies being infected with the Medusa Effect, only cockatrice. The symptoms of the Medusa Effect aren't very different from pony to cockatrice, with the main difference being the final stage. Instead of becoming mindless moving statues, infected cockatrice become full statues with no consciousness, effectively ending their life within 2 weeks after infection. A cockatrice can get infected after territorial disputes, if they get bit by another cockatrice. The infection starts out slow, then develops fast after the first week of infection. In ponies, the infection moves faster for the first 2 stages, lasting a couple days instead of a week, while the final stages takes longer to finish, and causes excruciating pain as they slowly begin to lose consciousness. This can last a few days to months depending on the mental strength of the pony. The stone-like structure of their body can move surprisingly fast, but will freeze when someone is looking at them. Somehow the infected know exactly when someone is looking at them, even if they cannot see them directly. These infected victims are highly aggressive, avoid at all cost.

This fanfiction was born from frustration with how Genshin Impact portrayed native cultures — in a shallow and stereotypical way.
I began reimagining Natlan in 2024, long before it was officially released, and have been developing this world throughout 2025. My intention was always to create something more respectful, symbolic, and culturally grounded.
Here, themes like cultural erasure, ancestral spirituality, resistance, and collective trauma are not relegated to side quests no one talks about — they are the soul of the story.
Despite heavy criticism and opposition, I still believe the Natlan I’ve created offers a more thoughtful representation — one that honors not only Indigenous and Afro-descendant peoples (as should’ve been done from the start), but also my own Indigenous and Afro-descendant ancestors.
This story is my attempt to give voice to what was silenced by our own community — to imagine what could have been, if there had been real listening and not only hate.
