When a demon hunt goes awry and accidentally exposes his supernatural nature to a long-time client, Dante expects only the worst. Now I head up this mountain to find the man of the tale. To find out about him and what he really is. To see if the people are right or if they have twisted him into something completely unrecognizable. I hope to ask him questions and write about him, to dispel the terror that looms over many paranormal things.
But as I am about to find out, I'm getting more than I ever bargained for.

My aim is to explore the evolution of Dante and Lady starting from DMC3 to DMC5 and stay as canon compliant as possible. The games and anime are considered canon for this work, additional media is heavily relied on for inspiration, but since it suffers so much from retcons, isn't strictly adhered to. Any constructive criticism, especially on the treatment of the characters, is welcome. We start with how they get from fighting demons together as the DMC3 credits roll to setting up the shop and working together after.
Some harm to children in chapters 7 and 13, but 13 could be triggering. It could be skipped without missing out on anything important as far as this work/series is concerned (Try not to skip 7 though as it impacts D/L, D&L depending on how you see them). No smut till chapter 18.

Vergil has been missing ever since the roots of the Qliphoth tree had been cut, which has brought an immense amount of stress on Dante, who's stuck between wondering what his twin could be planning and the foul mood of his nephew, who's still figuring out what it means to be part of this broken family. As if his personal problems weren't enough, Lady finds a new friend that is far from being trustworthy, who brings Dante a new mission: stopping a general from the Demon World from performing a ritual that could kill an entire city in the blink of an eye.
Blaming his bad luck as always, Dante will have to learn how to pull his shit together in order to finally get some peace and improve his relationship with his twin, and with some redhead he can't get out of his mind.

Together, they continued to take contracts—jobs funneled through Morrison, favors called in by old contacts, and desperate requests from clients who had learned that when the world brushed too close to Hell, Devil May Cry answered. On their day off Morrison makes an unexpected drop-by the office with an urgent job request for Dante, helping out the guardian of the island Vie de Marli, Lucia, in their fight to stop a businessman named Arius from raising the demon Argosax and achieving supreme power. However, Cassiel would not be able to go with her lover on this mission, and was commissioned separately by someone on Fortuna Island to heck out violent encounters with demon. But as always, fate worked strangely with Cassiel, and was reunited with a boy who she could never forget.
