A traumatised citizen of the Terran Accord is grappling with this exact dilemma when her planet is taken over by a species of benevolent plant aliens with a reputation for taking humans as pets. She no longer has the luxury of time, effort, and delicate emotional processing to work through her past. She needs to get her ducks in a row before someone decides she presents a danger to herself.
A story set in the Human Domestication Guide universe. This one has cute lesbians playing tabletop games through the end of the world, a fantastical affini, and a domme floret. It's a bit of a ride.
(This story is my pet project. Writing for it happens when spoons allow me to savour it, and not a moment sooner.)

Sedum Caerulu, Fifteenth Bloom, finds a mysterious planet-sized relic in deep space that's aimed at Terra, the homeworld of the Affini Compact's most recently domesticated species.
RAINDrop5, part of a cyborg drone strike team sent by OCNI to investigate and neutralize the threat to Terra, finds itself stuck in the labyrinths of the object and disconnected from its hive.
And somewhere deep in the object's subterranean biosphere, a new consciousness begins to awaken.
How will the Affini Compact untangle this conundrum and make every sophont involved happy?
Many elements of this story are inspired by the NES game The Guardian Legend, but this is firmly set in the HDG setting and is not a crossover.
