Summary
With Constance and Milady gone from their lives but not forgotten, a simmering tension is building between d’Artagnan and Athos. Set pretty much exclusively within and around the first episode of the second series (Keep Your Friends Close).

Summary
Summer in the city and The Musketeers are being sent on missions outside of Paris. Separately. Athos longs to see more of d’Artagnan. Will love (or even lust) find a way?

Summary
The new Queen’s Confidante, Constance Bonacieux, is intelligent, capable, loyal, witty, and adventurous, and scrambling to learn quickly in a whole new world of intrigue and court games. Will her love for the Queen (and the sadly-relinquished d’Artagnan) see her through, or will she have to change herself fundamentally to learn and adapt to these new rules?
In the meantime, another’s growing passion for Constance herself may shake her world to its foundations.

Summary
Loose threads are tied and others started; an interweaving of perspectives before, during and after the episode “Through A Glass Darkly” and carrying on from the storyline created in previous works of this series.
Hopefully it’s clear from the tags but… expect angst.

Summary
The previous works have brought us to this pass - d’Artagnan has been having an affair with Athos, and has recently renewed his affair with Constance, after they declared their love for each other, with Athos’s blessing. Except that Constance doesn’t know. Yet.
Expect angst from pretty much the get-go and maybe… just maybe… some kind of resolution…

Summary
The long summer is over, a monster has been defeated, our heroes have done their duty, and the rewards of their faithfulness are beckoning just over the horizon (with still a few miles to go before they sleep).
But even the most dedicated warriors need to kick back, and where better than the garrison mess with a jug or two and some fun and games…?

Summary
Hand of cards finished, bread finished, Aramis staring into middle distance again, Porthos, longing to tug him back into the room, fed up with feeling like he somehow knows his friends less well than before, says, before he can stop himself: “You, er, earlier you said you’d kissed a man…”
“Hmm? Oh, yes. Once. A while ago.”
Well, he can’t leave it there now, can he? “Do you, uh. Hmm. Care to share the tale?”
***
After the (many, varied) confessions of Nevertheless, Aramis is thoughtful (as well he might be), and Porthos wants to reconnect with his friend, so agrees to exchange the fuller story of one of his own confessions in future for the tale of how Aramis once kissed another man…
A standalone story about temptation and masks… among other things.

Summary
“I believe,” says Aramis, “that it’s your turn now.”
“So,” he coughs, “which is it to be?” Aramis’s eyes widen. “You, er, you said you’d choose.”
“Ah, yes,” and he grins slowly. Porthos steels himself. “You said you’d experienced climax without direct touch…”
Fuck. “Yes.”
“Well, go on, then.”
He rallies. “You want me to…” with a raise of his eyebrows, takes a small delight in Aramis colouring.
“Just tell me the story,” he replies, rather shortly.
“All right then… but it won’t be poetical.”
***
It’s Porthos’s turn to tell a story, and Aramis has turned up this incautious confession from their recent game of I Have Never (Nevertheless, where the Inseparables learned quite how inseparable Athos and d’Artagnan have become, for one thing, and exactly what Constance thinks of that)
A standalone fic about delicious bodily mysteries.

Summary
“What are you doing, brother?” asks Aramis, softly, feeling his pulse pick up, unsteadily, keeping it locked down under what he hopes is still a mild expression.
“I’m trying to work out,” says the other, concentration threading tension through his voice, “what makes otherwise sane, strong people completely lose their shit when they kiss you.”
***
Aramis and Porthos, weary but unwilling to quit their deepening conversation in the garrison mess, are getting close to answering some crucial questions. Or maybe just one…
Not standalone - you’ll ideally need to have read All This Night first. There are a fair number of clues if not…

Summary
Are you going to carry me across the threshold?” Her voice is rich with amusement.
“No,” he decides. “I’ve not stolen you from anyone. Besides,” he adds, “this isn’t our home. I’ll do it when… after… if you want…”
“It’s all right.” She lays her hand on his arm, then slips it down to hold his hand. “Come on.”
And, of course, he thinks, a corner of his mouth lifting, she leads the way.
***
This is d’Artagnan and Constance’s cruelly truncated honeymoon – a couple of hours’ grace between wedding and war. Last night, filled to the brim with victory, they spent some time playing drinking games with the other Inseparables, whereupon they were tricked into revealing something of the full extent of their relationship with Athos. Which connection they all three went on to celebrate in style and vigour in Constance’s suite at the Palace, unaware that battle was about to cut all their plans short.

Summary
Look at this fancy, bloody stupid room and fancy, bloody stupid clothes. You imagined yourself someone who had adventures, and you were just another doll in a different costume, playacting for, for other people. Again.
None of it was real. None of it!
And the storm of tears carries her off again. She rather fancies she might break something – something that would make a satisfying sound and a terrible mess. She also knows that she won’t, because. Because.
***
Constance is locked deep in mourning and guilt. What will it take to reach her?

Summary
Athos looks, and this would surprise most who know him, uncertain in his swiftness, eyes a little wild, and his hand only strays off the hilt of his weapon to press the flesh of his left forearm. Whenever he notices, he flings his hand back to his belt with a flushed impatience. His undone doublet flaps a little, counterpoint to his gait.
On the well-trod path from the Louvre Palace back to his quarters, so familiar he could probably make it blindfold, he has plenty of space and time in which to think.
He does not want to think. And he can feel every open tavern door tugging at him like the brink of a well.
* * *
Set as an explicit, breakout intermission chapter from the otherwise “Teen and up”-rated Defences, we follow Athos home after his rather heated session with Constance in Chapter 3.

Summary
The young Gascon had burst into his rooms, dripping wet and glaring. He’d lowered his book, brows rising in the middle. “Wh–”
“She’ll have none of me!”
Athos had closed his eyes on a deep breath, forehead resting lightly on his hand. “Did you –?”
“I went to speak to her.”
“After she told you – begged you to leave her alone?”
“Yes.”
He’d pinched the loose skin just above his nose. “After I suggested you give it – give her – time?”
His teeth had gritted. “Yes.”
*
Constance and d’Artagnan are holding each other at arm’s length and Athos finds himself offering comfort to both of them. In her case in the form of chess and self-defence training. In his case, well… now read on…
From a prompt by theredwagon: “d’Artagnon/Athos, a wall… and something very steamy?”

Summary
If he’s honest with himself, he gets a kick out of watching Athos lose his temper. With other people, obviously. And with toffs in particular.
“Now look here!” one of them, red-faced old sot that he is, blusters.
“Kill tallies,” says Athos, clipped and dark, finger pointing at a report. “Positions captured,” he points again. “Prisoners taken,” and again. “Mortality rates,” and his voice doesn’t even quiver. “The numbers speak for themselves. And you want to send them out like common cannon fodder,” he spits, elegant as a rapier, black-clad body half-turned as though they’re barely worth his attention.
