Danny Phantom cross w/Batman
Danny is male
Danny is homeless and on the run bc his parents found out and didn’t accept him. He took a lot of buses and went everywhere for awhile until he ended up in Gotham. Good build up.
Danny was/is a street kid, making acquaintances with the other homeless people, street, kids, and working girls. They all started to call him Dumpster bc he always slept behind them. The kiddos called him Snacks bc he always gave snacks. Danny is weird but cute and no one really cares bc a lot of people have quirks like him.
Danny is a free spirit (no pun intended) and wanders around, no serious attachments like joining gangs. He’s friendly and mostly everyone is friendly (‘normal’ citizens ostracize him, thinking that he will steal from them). He ended up seeing something on his first day, something he didn’t think was important because this is Gotham (somebody getting shot up), but turned out to be incredibly important (the beginnings of gang war. Hood’s underlings would report what they heard from him, not in a mean way.
Danny saved a kid and her mom and ran into the bats and dipped out as soon as the 2 were safe. Putting himself on the bat’s radar (they knew he was seriously injured and wanted to find out where he was so that they could help him). I love the scene where Dick took him back to a safe house to help him get cleaned up and fed him a nice warm meal. Inspirational.
Danny becomes friends with Grundy, super cute and wholesome! Love Grundy here. He’s also friendly with Ivy and Hood (who helped cut his hair, tried to DNA test it, and failed).
Everyone thinks Danny is sick with something rare (his blood ‘degraded’ according to Tim, and Hood drew his own conclusions) and really want to help.
Danny does NOT expose himself here (his powers to the public). Only to Grundy. And when he fought (wrestled) Croc, he didn’t use identifiable powers, just his strength. Croc thinks Danny is Grundys biological son. He only recently used a blast against Man Bat, who most likely won’t remember anything. And the fight was out of the way so no one saw.
27 long, good chapters and no reveals, I love it. The plot is Slow Burn, taking its time and NOT boring! Inspiration!I love this story, very slow paced and not rushed. I woulda had some power revealed by now. The author builds up the story and creates meaningful interactions with people of interest (hero’s and villains) one person at a time. They are all having some interaction with him b4 things speed up.
Oh, and Danny is ghost king with a convenience of the crown and ring going invisible and only visible when necessary, so he’s always wearing it.
Great inspiration for the ‘homeless beginnings’ route/street rat route.
Last chapter I read was chapter 27 and Danny is still homeless and wandering, but with closer connections to street rats and working girls. No Phantom revealed.
I like the spaced out plot. And length of the chapters.
Looking forward to seeing more!
