Heartbreak and hockey don't mix.
Boston's Ilya Rozanov decides to do what he'd been putting off for years. He calls off his affair with Shane Hollander, Montreal extraordinaire, right before a Montreal vs Boston game. He gets a hockey puck shot right into his hamstring for it. Right in the middle of the game. Honestly, he never guessed Hollander had it in him to be vindictive.
As for Shane...it works. He didn’t want to see Rozanov anymore. In this game. In this season. And now Ilya’s out. Ball and chained to healing and recovery, pain meds and physical therapy for the next year. Maybe when Rozanov comes back, Shane will be able to stomach breathing the same air as him again.
And Rozanov will be back. That much is guaranteed. Shane just fails to measure how back Ilya Rozanov will be. If he thought Rozanov was a nightmare on the ice before his injury, he’s got a reckoning coming.

With the war gearing up to begin again, the Dark Lord running rampant, and a ministry official wearing (shudder) pink taking over the school, Severus Snape just knows this year will be one of the worst in his life. At least there’s the mystery of the new History professor to keep him distracted. Why does the new professor simultaneously terrify and intrigue him? And what’s with his strange friendship with Potter? Should he be concerned the man might be an assassin? Should he help him?

I'm sure this is more than a bit cliche, but I had fun writing it regardless. It's very short and completely from Snape's perspective. I just love writing his snark!
Also, as a note of future/past reference (Time Travel fic) the Golden Trio didn't make it out of Malfoy Manor in Deathly Hallows before Voldemort arrived. The war dragged on before it's eventual and bloody end. The losses were unacceptable and traumatic.Snape finally makes a friend, somewhat unwillingly, and learns to hate Harry a little less in the process.

Draco works as an unspeakable as is accidently thrown back into his 11 yo body on a stool at madam malkins. PTSD, further temporal displacement, and a lot of in depth world and a character building leads him to the conclusion that maybe this timeline could be the best one since all the others were pretty shit. A thread running through them all is that no matter what he and Harry always drift together.
