Chapter Text
This story takes place 4 years after the hobbit but first we're gonna flashback to when Bilbo got back to the shire except this time…it's different.
Bilbo is riding his pony on the trail to his lovely home, bag end, he's happy to see the bright green grass and the mushrooms that populate his home. He rides up a small hill and freezes at what he sees… the shire is in ruin.
The overground market looks like it has been burned, the party tree as well. He pulls on the rains of his pony to rush through. Hobbit doors broken with things scattered out, dried blood covering the streets,...bodies…bodies of plenty everywhere. People he knew ,now dead…. Uncles, cousins, aunts and friends. People both young and old are now dead.
And they look like they have been dead awhile too.
He does not find a single person alive…. He's hoping some escaped but hobbits have never been the running kind.
Bilbo gets to bag end to find his door barricaded from the inside. He uses sting to carefully unjam it and uses the little strength he gained during his adventure to push his door open.
His ear flicks as he hears something coming for him and he instantly ducks just as an arrow hits the door. He looks at his home to find it looking like some odd shelter “hello?, who is there?”
If he was still the same hobbit from a year ago he wouldnt have heard the responding sound but thanks to his adventure and running from wargs and goblins his hearing has gotten a lot better.
He hears whispering and tiny footsteps the soft sound of a tiny tail swishing across the floor……fauntllings
Bilbo makes his voice as soft as possible “my name is bilbo baggins and this is my home. Can I see you?”
“Bilbo?”
Bilbo immediately recognizes that voice “frodo?”
A tiny very thin hobbit with black curly hair and baby blue eyes runs out from the shadows and hugs bilbos leg. Bilbo immediately sits on the floor and hugs the tiny hobbit. “Frodo, what in Yavanna happened here?”
Frodo is now crying his little eyes out “it was terrible mr bilbo! W..wolves got into the shire a..and none of the rangers were near enough to help! T..they attacked and killed so many people! So many people got mad!! They started fighting! And soon people were killing others! m..my mama and papa got killed! I..i found 3 more s..survivers and w..we hid out here. T..the people who weren't killed s..soon starved or r..ran and got killed by wolves!”
Bilbo moves frodo onto his lap “oh darling…. Im so sorry you had to go through that”
Bilbo looks over as 3 more fauntlings walk over. Once again bilbo recognizes them

Meriadoc "Merry" Brandybuck
Peregrin "Pippin" Took
“Oh darlings …come here”
They run over and also cry while hugging him
Bilbo makes a decision right then and there. He sighs “children…if there's anything here you would want to keep go get it…im taking you somewhere safer”
The kids nod and run off. Bilbo looks around his home and sighs….he walks around his house looking for anything he can still keep of his old home….
He grabs some old books, a few of his maps, the pictures of his parents and a few blankets
He gets the kids and their items and walks them out of bag end. Outside his pony, fern is standing. Bilbo puts the kids on top of the pony and leds them out of the shire trying to avoid any of the bodies. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

2 years later
Bilbo and the fauntlings are currently living in a small hut by the gray mountains. Now bilbo still believes himself to be banished from the erebor because Gandalf had forced him to leave before thorin could wake up from his coma because gandalf had not wanted his hobbit getting even more hurt plus with his section of the contract completed. Now bilbo has taken up a job he would really rather not have but it is their only option right now. Bilbo became a thief… taken up stealing from the rich dwarfs that live in the gray mountains and the goblins and orcs that will pass by.
It was during one of these that something went very wrong…
Bilbo was in the process of stealing some stuff from the orcs that he might be able to sell when one of the wargs caught his scent. Bilbo was able to run away from the orc group but the warg had followed and attacked bilbo when he thought he was safe.
Now bilbos throat was already pretty damaged from when thorin held him from the ramparts but it was bearable but the warg had attacked bilbos throat damaging it even more.
Bilbo was able to move just enough to wrap his throat with his shirt and crawl his way back to the hut.
Thanks to him never going to see an actual healer his throat never healed correctly leaving him mostly unable to speak and when he does try it feels like burning.
They once again have to move cause the wargs and orcs had caught his scent, making this area dangerous

3 years after this and our present
Bilbo is now living in a rebuilt dale. Bilbo uses the last bit of his gold from the adventure to buy a small place in dale for him and the 4 tinies. Frodo is now a tween, sam and merry are getting there and pippin is still a child. Since the people of Dale would know his name he gets the small place under the name Drogo Underhill in memory of his dear cousin. The tinies stay out of the men's eyes thanks to how small they are. Sadly he has to wrap up his feet and cover his foot hair so that he won't be recognized as a hobbit. He has a scarf that he also uses as a hood. To cover his damaged throat and hobbit ears. His hair has gotten long so he puts it up in a ponytail to keep out of his face. He wishes he could braid it like his dwarfs did but he doesn't know how.
He becomes a popular thief thanks to him never getting caught and always getting the job done.getting called the mute burglar. They know he will never snitch…he cant snitch..so he gets hired often.
It was on one of these missions that he saw his old friend nori …
Nori doesn't recognize him thanks to the hood, how he's skinnier than he used to be, and the fact he has all his hobbit traits covered. His tail wrapped around his waist under his many layers.
Nori was hired by a different group to steal the same thing bilbo was. Bilbo so badly wanted to show nori who he was but he had a mission to complete for the tinies.
Bilbo sighs as he sneaks his way past nori and steals the item out from under his nose.
That starts the frankly one sided rivalry between nori and bilbo.

Now did nori have to steal, no he didnt and he knows it. But where's the fun in that? Now he cant let dori know hes still a thief by hire cause he just wont understand.
However this “mute burglar” is getting on his last nerve!
No matter how much he follows him or tries to find out any information on this person he finds nothing!!
He can't believe it! A human child better at thieving than him! Insulting! Every time nori is hired this blind burglar is always there and steals it first! No matter what.
Nori is getting pretty pissed off
