Work Text:
The moment Hinata stepped into the living room doorway, he noticed the giant blob of blankets, stuffed animals, and pillows on the couch. The brunet was hopelessly confused for a split second until he noticed a fluffy strand of snow-white hair poking from the pile.
“Um...Komae-”
“Hinata-kun!!”
A pair of bright grey eyes popped up, widening immediately upon seeing Hinata. Komaeda let out a happy noise and was instantly a giggling flurry of limbs, his arms flapping wildly and his legs kicking at the air, sending pillows and blankets flying. “Hinata-kun! Hinata-kun! Hinata-kun!” he shouted happily.
“Whoa, whoa, take it easy there,” Hinata cautioned, “You don’t wanna strain yourself, right?”
Komaeda made a conscious effort to quiet his limb flailing. He ended up clapping his hands instead, rocking and giggling all the while, still staring at Hinata.
Hinata was not new to this sort of behavior. He didn’t really understand it, but Komaeda had told him that unconsciously regressing to an earlier age helped him deal with overwhelming feelings.
Komaeda reached out and made weak grabby hands in Hinata’s direction. ”Cuddle? Please?”
Hinata smiled, sitting next to the white-haired boy. “Of course we can,” he said, moving Komaeda into his lap and gently straddling him.
Komaeda hummed quietly as Hinata slowly rocked them back and forth, his arms wrapped around the other. Komaeda was pleasantly warm for once, likely from being underneath about a metric ton of blankets for a long period of time. After staying like that for a few minutes, Komaeda began to squirm in Hinata’s arms, his arm reaching for something behind the brunet’s back. “Do you need something?” Hinata asked.
“Lucky Bear,” Komaeda said simply.
Hinata searched behind him for the slightly worn green care bear. He gave it to his boyfriend, who immediately hugged it to his chest.
“Hey, baby, do you wanna watch My Little Pony?” Hinata suggested.
“Yea!”
Hinata awkwardly scooched forward to grab the TV remote, his boyfriend still clinging to him like a koala, and turned on the other’s favorite episode. Hinata shifted Komaeda around so he was able to see the screen, then grabbed a couple of blankets from the giant blob for good measure.
It didn’t take long for the white-haired boy to stop shifting around and focus on the episode. “Fluttershy!” he observed enthusiastically when his favorite character appeared on the screen.
Hinata hummed in acknowledgment. He’d seen this episode countless times before, so he didn’t feel too guilty about tuning it out and letting his mind wander while the colorful show droned on in the background. Komaeda occasionally made short comments, but most of the conversation was happening between the ponies on the television.
Just as the ending credits faded into silence, Komaeda shuffled around to latch onto Hinata once again, his poor stuffed bear smushed in between them. He hummed quietly, tracing letters into Hinata’s back. The mood seemed peaceful, and Komaeda seemed calm enough for Hinata to begin to speak.
“Did something bad happen today?” Hinata inquired. “You can tell me.”
Komaeda’s finger stopped. “Thoughts weren’t nice. Lonely. Missed Hinata-kun. Wanted hugs.” His words came in short bursts and were slightly muffled by Hinata’s hair, so the brunet had a hard time making them out. “Didn’t feel real…”
Hinata wrapped Komaeda in a tight hug of his own, hoping to reassure the other of his presence. It seemed to work, as the white-haired boy hummed happily.
After a few moments, Hinata decided to speak again. “Do you wanna go to bed?”
“Mhm,” was all Hinata got as a response.
The brunet flailed around for a bit as he attempted to stand up with the weight of a fully grown man wrapped around his torso. He eventually succeeded, though a bit clumsily, and headed over to their shared bedroom. Hinata attempted to pry Komaeda off of him so he could put on pajamas, but the sickly boy had a freakishly strong grip. He eventually resigned himself to having uncomfortable jean indentations in the morning and flopped into bed with Komaeda in tow, positioning them to hopefully avoid waking up with asleep limbs.
As he was placed down, Komaeda giggled and snuggled into Hinata’s side. “ I looooooooooove youuuuu ,” he slurred sleepily when Hinata turned to face him.
Hinata couldn’t help the huge, stupid grin that spread across his face. “I love you too, Ko.”
The other seemed pleased with his response, curling up against him. “G’night.”
Hinata pressed a gentle kiss to Komaeda’s forehead before smiling against it. “Goodnight, love bug...”
