Work Text:

"I'm bored," Tommy complained, his small wings fluttering. It has been too hot for the three teens lately, a heatwave has arrived in the town. Tommy rolled onto his stomach, laying on the hardwood floor of the small hut that he, Tubbo and Ranboo had made. "I want to do something."

"There's nothing we can do in this kind of weather," Tubbo said. He was leaning over his desk, having a fan pointed at his face, letting it blow lukewarm air into his direction. It didn’t do much, but enough for him to not want to pull the fur off of his body. He had grown his hair out, having it now long enough that it can hide his eyes. "It's too fucking hot to do anything."

"Agreed." Ranboo was laying on the bed, his head upside down as he hung from the side of the bed. "What do you even want to do? I just wish I could melt and never have to wake up again." Tommy groaned.

"Just anything..."

"Well, when you come up with an idea, we can go and do it." There were a couple of minutes of blissful silence until Tommy sat up straight.

"We could go swimming."

"Swimming? We don't have a pool?"

"We could go swimming in the river nearby." Tubbo pushed his hair out of his face so he could look up at Ranboo who had rolled forward and was now sitting against the bedframe. "And? We could?" Tubbo huffed.

"Fine."

The water was sloshing against the stones and the three guys were standing on the edge of the river. There was a waterfall nearby that contributed to the sounds. Tubbo looked at Tommy, waiting for him to jump in first. But that didn’t happen. Instead, he felt two pair of arms around his waist and his feet lifted from the ground.

"Tommy! Tommy no! Put me down!" Tubbo struggled in the grip until he felt himself fall. The arms around him were gone and he was falling. Falling until he felt his body hit the water. It was cold. Tubbo got back up again, throwing his head back so his hair wasn't in the way. "You fucking asshole!" Tommy laughed loudly until Ranboo also pushed him in. Tommy yelped out and fell on top of Tubbo, making them both go under the water.

"I hate both of you!" Tommy huffed, but he was grinning and his eyes were glistening.

"Yeah? Well, then you hate me more if I do this!" Ranboo also jumped in, jumping on top of Tommy and clinging to his neck. Tommy laughed loudly.

"Let go of me!" Tubbo pulled on Ranboo's back, making the tallest of them let go and go down in the water before coming back up. "Freak," Tommy jokingly said as he pushed Ranboo in the ribs.

"And you're an idiot."

Tubbo shook his head, water flying around in droplets. Ranboo scoffed.

"You could also use a towel... You know, like everyone else." Tubbo shrugged and grabbed the towel, drying himself off. "That was fun. But don't you think Phil is worried about where we are? It's already dark." Tommy shrugged.

"It'll be fine..."

"We could also stay here for a little while longer," Tubbo suggested, looking at the night sky that was filled with stars. It was beautiful. He had never seen the sky as bright as now. "Look! It's the big dipper!" Tubbo gushed as he pointed into a vague direction of where the constellation was supposed to be.

"Where?" Tommy asked curiously.

"See those seven stars? Those should be it." Ranboo frowned.

"Guys, I think we really have to go back..."

"Come on Ranboo, a little bit longer... Please!" Tommy and Tubbo both put on their puppy eyes and Ranboo scoffed a little.

"Fine."

When they came back, everyone was still awake. They were sitting on a patch of grass outside, roasting marshmallows. Phil was in fact a bit worried, but he was happy to see that the three teens had a good time together. Ranboo sat down and let both smaller boys cuddle on each of his sides. And so, despite the absolute unbearable heat, it was still an alright day.
