Summary
“I heard that when sirens die,” Grantaire continued in a hoarse whisper. “they turn into the foam of the sea. Makes sense, doesn’t it, for the waters are where they come from, and to the waters they should return. And so I had thought…I had thought when you killed it, it would just disappear. Dissolve into a cloud of white, sink through the wood of our ship, and just…be gone. But it remained. Like the corpse of a man. And so my mind– it cannot–”
Or; after the attack, Grantaire and Enjolras share another heart to heart. Grantaire tries to let go of his guilt.

Summary
“Eugène,” said Jean Valjean in barely a murmur. He was untying his cravat. “Reply softly. Have you learned to tie a knot?”
“Yes sir.” The young boy said quietly. He had not yet begun calling the man father. “I tie the horses to their stables.”
“Take your cravat off. Tie the end of it to mine.”
Or; Enjolras and Cosette are siblings in 19th century France. A rewrite of how Valjean got them into the convent.

Summary
“I have never seen a sea monster before,” Combeferre confessed. “I was raised by the seaside – for my father is a fisherman, you see, – and so I have seen and loved many of the small creatures that we have caught. But I have always dreamt of meeting the monsters of myth: Scylla, Charybdis, the sirens out in the seas, and so if you would not mind, could I possibly stay to see Grantaire arrive? I would love to have a chat with him.”
“A chat with the sea monster coming to devour me?”
“Yes.”
Enjolras blinked, huffed, and tossed his head.
“Very well. But you might get yourself eaten too, if you are not careful.”
Or; Combeferre is Perseus, on his way home with the head of Medusa. Just his luck, he gets to meet the beautiful Enjolras, chained to the rocks as Andromeda, and the horrendous sea-monster Grantaire, sent to devour Enjolras. Combeferre is much too excited about this arrangement than he really should be.

Summary
“I—” Enjolras paused, his round cheeks turning pink. “You think me infallible to affections. You are wrong. I cannot trust myself to not be swayed by the sirens this time. I'm sorry.”
If it weren’t for Grantaire’s own spinning confusion, he would have laughed at the open-mouthed look of shock on Courfeyrac’s face.
“Are you saying— are you saying you’re in love, Enjolras?!”
“Don’t push,” Enjolras warned, his voice low and taut. “That is my final answer: I will not do it. Is anyone else capable instead?”
That was when Grantaire had volunteered.
Or; Grantaire, unwilling to confess his attraction to Enjolras and convinced that he can resist his temptations, volunteers to speak to a siren to gather information. This incredibly stupid decision, however, may turn out to rear more good than bad in the end.

Summary
“Will you kill me now?” Enjolras asked, his words carried away by the winds that still beat upon him. The flames were up to his hips, lapping at his stomach.
“No.” the voice replied, sounding nearly regretful. “I have come to take you away.”
“But I am to be killed.”
“You are to be sacrificed. You have been sacrificed, to me.”
“I do not understand.”
“You are mine,” said the voice, almost sullenly. “A beautiful young man like you belongs to me now. Surely you can see the implications.”
Or; In a France still ruled by the gods, a prophecy is released, calling for the beautiful young Enjolras to be sacrificed to a hideous, cruel monster. Upon learning that his sacrifice will bring about the liberation of France, Enjolras gives himself up readily. Still, he does not expect to be whisked away by this invisible creature, who is sentient and intelligent and indescribably kind.
He expects lesser still to fall in love with him.
