Sanemi’s fingers pressed against a soft spot of flesh, just an inch to the right from her belly button. He replayed that day over and over in his head. In anger. In disbelief. Eventually, in regret. He could still remember each part of her body his blade had pierced. The blood he’d spilled in glee and self-righteousness. The muffled screams and growls behind her gag as he’d inflicted wound after wound on her body.
And yet the skin was smooth. Unbroken and untouched. His affliction had been erased and, while he was glad to see his actions hadn’t left her scarred, he couldn’t help but feel like he deserved the shame of a reminder.
Perhaps it was a little perverse of him, but he partly hated the fact he hadn’t left his mark on her too.

Daine woke up early, to the sound of Numair snoring and the familiar, annoying feeling of her mouth full of his hair. She blew it out with a huff, and Numair made a sleepy sound and rolled over, the messy cloud of his hair going with him, leaving a warm space in the bed behind him. There was sunlight coming through the cracks in the closed shutters, and Daine could hear the palace sparrows outside shrieking about how it was the morning, the sun was up, the humans should also be up.

Yennefer is one of the most skilled assassins on the Continent; she trained for years at Aretuza to learn to kill without hesitation or remorse. But when she's hired to kill an unexpectedly charming bard she impulsively decides to throw it all away and start a new life. But the man who wants Jaskier dead is impatient and merciless enough to hire a witcher and witchers are brutal, unfeeling creatures.
...Aren't they?
