Summary
He did not always have these feelings. Weyoun remembers he once was very comfortable in how much he loathed Damar. He woke up like this, born into this world in a state of mourning, and he is beginning to think it was his penance to pay for maiming the Alpha Quadrant. That the people of Cardassia got their revenge, that he grieves for their lost martyr as much as they do.

Summary
Post-canon. Julian's gene therapy has a downside, and Garak, who had long-ago fallen in love with the “brilliant young doctor,” can do absolutely nothing for him.

"It doesn’t matter," he says. "You never remember anyway. No matter how many times I tell you, in the end it’s just me."
He can practically taste the silence that stretches between them after that, as Garak is trying to puzzle out the meaning.
"I’m stuck in a time loop," Julian explains unprompted. "In a bit over a day we are attacked, and die, and then it starts all over again."Bookmarked by voidjunk

10/10 smut, but also, even knowing it was going to end badly... The ending was kind of quietly devastating.

Laughed and cried (several times). The poem hit really hard, too, in the best way.

Summary
He was no one’s choice of nurse, Garak reflected, even if Bashir seemed to tolerate him more than anyone else on the station did. Garak had been trained to inflict pain, not to ease it; to terrify, not to comfort. Bashir had shown Garak more tenderness and care than anyone had in many, many years, and the idea of trying to play that same role for the good doctor now was, frankly, a little intimidating.
Not trying at all, however, simply was not an option.

Summary
Insisting that he’s dying (but not actually dying), Garak begins telling Bashir all his closest secrets. But what Garak calls ‘secrets’ are really observations – all the rules he lives by have been broken for Bashir. Even more interesting: these little stories about the two of them are starting to sound like love confessions. Oh, it’s going to be very awkward when Garak survives.

Summary
"No, it's fine," Julian said automatically. "But, Garak, is everything all right?"
"Captain Sisko wanted to see me," Garak said—which was so conspicuous a refusal to answer the question Julian had asked that it almost didn't qualify as an evasion. He pulled out the chair opposite Julian, and sat.
"Captain Sisko? Why?"
"Well, apparently," Garak said, "Cardassia has lodged a formal request with the Federation for my extradition."
(Or: Garak has a problem. Julian marries him to fix it. Except that means Julian also has a problem, albeit of a very different kind.)

Summary
"When amplified, the interimplication of pleasure/pain can create an experience that leaves the subject “momentarily undone”. This unraveling of the self “disrupt[s] the ego’s coherence and dissolve[s] its boundaries"

Julian is tortured by Garak in the Mirror Universe and learns something about his relationship with pain that he wishes he hadn't. -

This is one of those fics I find back to from time to time. I dearly wish it wasn't abandoned, but either way I'm still glad the author wrote and posted what they did!

Summary
Q never got his powers back after Deja Q, and now has to adjust to having a human sexuality. When Q consults Data about human sexuality, all Data mentions is heterosexuality. Q remembers how humans used to deal with people with same-sex attractions, and decides to stay in the closet regarding his feelings for Picard. And then an old enemy of his shows up. Unrequited Picard/Q, Data and Q platonic friendship.

Bookmarker's Notes
Great in both the way it tackles both the heterocentrism in universe and how Q struggles with concerns about bigotry. It's also always really refreshing whenever a fic doesn't see the reciprocation of romantic love as necessary to have anything resembling a good end.

Summary
It all starts with Q forcing Picard to spend some time with him. One hour, each night. Q is certain this bit of social engineering will make them the fastest of friends, but Picard thinks differently, as usual.
Expect realism and angst, but a satisfying ending. Takes place after TNG, only accounts for TNG canon.
