Summary
Its been a year since Vecna died. Since Eleven died. Since everything ended. The Party is spread out- well, except for Max, Lucas, and Will. However- Mike and Dustin live in different states. Joyce and Hopper moved to Virginia to live on the beach. Will has a boyfriend, Dustin has a girlfriend, and Lucas and Max are still going steady. Nancy and Robin have started dating in secret (Steve and Jonathan know). However, Mike is still alone. He hasn't moved on from Eleven. Or- atleast thats what he thinks. Really, its Will he hasn't moved on from.
When the whole party, the older kids, Joyce and Hopper, come back to Hawkins for a two-week long reunion, they reminisce on old friends and trauma. Will brings his new boyfriend, who seems to be fitting nicely with the party, to which Mike is jealous.Hi! This is my first Ao3 fic, I am sorry if the tags are weird. Stonathan is included btw. Also Holly and the newer Party. I will do my best on the DnD scenes, but I genuinely don't know anything about it. Sorry if my writing sucks.

He takes a deep breath.
“I want him the way I should have wanted Jane.”
Max is quiet, when he finally manages to look at her again. Her brows draw together slightly, pausing.
“But,” she whispers, in the space between them. “Will is a boy.”
Mike feels new tears well up behind his lids.
“Max.”
Something shifts in her expression, her mouth parting slightly.
“Oh.”
It’s quiet. Mike’s mouth pulls itself into a bitter smile. “Yeah, oh.”
or, it’s summer ‘90, and while everyone is off to college, Mike and Max scoop up ice cream in the rebuilt Starcourt Mall, reluctantly bonding over their shared hatred for children (and Mike’s little sister and idle friends) who just can’t seem to leave them alone.
or, 5 years later, it isn’t Robin and Steve working at Scoops Ahoy: it’s Max and Mike (who also get accidentally drugged. It's definitely not Steve's fault.)
