"Are you saying you forgot where I live?" Quincy asks, amused. Even if that were possible, Kuya is as good of a tracker as he is. Better, even. There's nowhere in the forest Quincy can hide if the yokai wants to find him.
Kuya smiles, sly and mocking. "As if I could miss it," he says, "even if the whole place wasn't stinking of rut."

And yes, Jean is familiar with loss, the sometimes celebration of it, the otherwise engulfing grief of it. But this: Jeremy sitting in a heap on his living room floor, Jabberwocky Moreau cuddled into his lap, tail lazily wagging? This is something he’s tired of losing, the microdose of his absence—the threat of it being whole if he keeps this up.
He waits for the “I can’t,” braces for it like it’ll land a physical blow. But it comes quietly, softly in the way Jeremy’s knuckles stop behind Jab’s ear; the sudden halt that hits right before the prolonged absence.
“I want to.”

“Tilt your head back,” Riko commands, and Kevin complies. He goes easy before Riko, like he always does, until Riko gets bored and demands a fight, and Kevin bares his teeth and presses in further, the line of his torso hard and unflinching against Riko’s.
There are so many things that Kevin will give to Riko, so many moments in which he will yield, but Riko likes that this does not give: that there is some part of Kevin strong enough to withstand Riko, some part of Kevin that cannot bend just because its owner’s spine is used to it.

Jean and Kevin are beautiful. They’re in matching costumes. An angel and devil. Jean is clad all in white, with feathered wings and a halo held up by wire so it appears to be floating above his head. Kevin is dressed all in red, with devil horns and a bendable tail that he’s curled to come around by his thigh. He’s wearing a sleeveless red top, boxy and cropped in style, but with high waisted trousers so there’s no visible skin. Though Aaron knows there are probably teasing glimpses every time Kevin raises his arms. The top three buttons of Jean’s shirt are undone, displaying a delicious line of collarbone and showcasing the cross necklace resting against his chest.
