He was going to be brave. “Can I kiss you?” The quiet question came, but in the silence it felt so loud, it hung so heavily in the small space between the two men. Cele was looking at him like a deer in headlights, surprised, like he was not expecting anything of the sort. Alonso was about to apologize, thinking he had misunderstood the atmosphere between them, but Cele seemed to come back to his own body just as Alonso was starting to open his mouth.
It was so quiet, but Alonso heard it perfectly, “Please..” the response came from Cele, breathless like he still couldn’t fully believe it.

Sava laughed along, but something stirred within him, his attraction to Bez that always simmered beneath his skin flaring up as a reminder. “Wouldn’t you like that, huh?” Sava aimed for something playful, flirty, normal. Something that wouldn’t betray his feelings and cost him a good friendship.

It's not hard to guess the facile emotion he may be feeling, especially when Cele is sulking, it shows up fairly easily. But it's hard to get inside his brain, understand what caused it or how it really makes Cele feel, hard to understand what he's thinking, how he's dealing with it.

Ilya’s hand wraps around his bare wrist and squeezes. Shane barely stops himself from collapsing to his knees.
The pressure lights up every receptor of his touch-starved nervous system, wrenching a small, pained noise from the back of his throat. Every muted sensation comes flooding back so intensely that it almost hurts. He needs Ilya to hold him down until there’s nothing inside him but quiet. He wants to sink into him and disappear.
It takes Shane an entire beat to remember where they are. Fighting against the fog in his mind, he manages to drag his gaze up to meet Ilya’s.
There’s a slow-dawning horror and understanding on Ilya’s face.

Heartbreak and hockey don't mix.
Boston's Ilya Rozanov decides to do what he'd been putting off for years. He calls off his affair with Shane Hollander, Montreal extraordinaire, right before a Montreal vs Boston game. He gets a hockey puck shot right into his hamstring for it. Right in the middle of the game. Honestly, he never guessed Hollander had it in him to be vindictive.
As for Shane...it works. He didn’t want to see Rozanov anymore. In this game. In this season. And now Ilya’s out. Ball and chained to healing and recovery, pain meds and physical therapy for the next year. Maybe when Rozanov comes back, Shane will be able to stomach breathing the same air as him again.
And Rozanov will be back. That much is guaranteed. Shane just fails to measure how back Ilya Rozanov will be. If he thought Rozanov was a nightmare on the ice before his injury, he’s got a reckoning coming.
