    When Shane Hollander’s grandmother dies, he deals with his grief by fufilling a promise he made her when she was still healthy. In his journey, the teenager finds himself enrolled in Moscow’s private school system under a shiny hockey scholarship.

    On the Russian ice, he meets a boy with wet blue eyes and a mean mouth that seems like he lost someone too. Between some prideful fights, tentative jabs, silently holding hands in the dark and relative hunting, the teens seal an unlikely bound.

    They keep finding each other after that. Again, and again.

    Or Shane is a second-gen immigrant from Japan trying to fulfill his Buryat grandmother’s last wish and in doing so he ends up in a grieving teenage Ilya’s Russia.

    They take even longer to realise they’re as inevitable as the sunrise.
