    Percy was seven the first time he woke screaming, the taste of blood in his mouth and the howling of hounds resounding throughout his head. His mom rushed into his room to cradle him in her arms. When she asked, he bit his tongue, told her only of dogs chasing after him. He didn’t tell her of the boy with the goat legs, the pain of being torn apart, and the warm light that engulfed him at the end. She held him until he fell back asleep. Elsewhere, a young daughter of Zeus made her final stand.

    Percy was nine when he opened his eyes, phantom lightning crawling over his skin and the echoes of a woman’s last moments still ringing in his ears. If he closed his eyes, he could still see the twin onyx eyes staring back at him.

    When his mother told him the story of his namesake, of Perseus the son of Zeus, he didn't tell her he already knew. Had already seen a mother and her infant set adrift in a raging storm, watched a boy travel far and slay monsters for the sake of his mother’s safety. But he didn’t tell her this. He was young, but he knew already what happened to people like him. People who see.

    He was no prophet; he would not suffer their fate. He would bite his tongue and let the prophecies pass him by.

    When Percy turned four, Sally Jackson sat him down and told him to never ever let anyone get their hands on his coat.

    “Always hide in plain sight, Perseus,” She told him, taking his feathered coat and shaking it out until it became a blue raincoat. “Humans can be quite stupid nowadays. They forget the stories of us, and we need to be thankful for that. Never swim naked, never forget your raincoat, and never ever let someone hold your coat.”

    Percy had the urge to grab his coat and go hide in his room when his mom brought home Smelly Gabe for the first time, but he didn’t. He sat on the couch and pretended to tolerate the man. A precious cloak is a far bigger target than a random old coat. Hiding in plain sight.

    Percy has a rather bad habit of being able to see the future. The old lady down the street is going to lose her cat, Mom is going to make pasta for dinner, Zeus' Master Bolt is going to be stolen by Luke, he's going to get a C+ in Maths.

    As you can tell, this causes problems. Especially since he was born with this, and the gods have no idea he has such a gift.

    At least he's always ten steps (and ten years sometimes) ahead of his enemies.

    Percy isn't a prophet. He may see things that he isn't supposed to see but that's irrelevant. If he just ignores it, it will go away, eventually, hopefully.

    Then he sees Grover at his school and starts to panic a little. Later Chiron becomes his teacher. They were here for another demigod who he hasn't noticed. Surely. Because Percy isn't a Prophet and he would never meet the fate of one.

    Or

    Percy is a prophet and it could make things easier or a lot more complicated.
