Ed mentally checks his calendar. He’d wanted to go see a film, but that’s about it. And it’s not like he wouldn’t set everything aside for Jim, anyway. “I’m free any evening you want.”
Jim squirms a little in their seat, refusing to make eye contact. “… I was hoping you might be free for the whole weekend.”
It stops Ed in his tracks. He stares at them, mouth open. “The whole weekend?”
Their scowl deepens, if that was even possible. “I want to try – the thing.”
“Gonna have to be a little more specific than that, Jimbo.”
Jim’s cheeks darken a little. They look away again. Ed probably shouldn’t find it so endearing how embarrassed they get over being forced to say what they want, but so help him, he does. “The edging thing. Like… orgasm denial and shit.”
The fourth installment of the Remington Steele AU, a series in which Jim is a detective, Ed is a con man and a thief, and they fuck their way into a messy BDSM rerelationship. They stopped talking, whisked the eggs a little harder. Tried to swallow down the lump that always made itself know when they tried to talk about him these days. They almost missed when they could talk about it and just feel numb. But their therapist said this was better. And it was, wasn't it? Now they could remember the good things, and not just the feel of his blood under their palms.
"I think I liked it," they said softly. "He made everything fun."
A small snippet in which Jim and Oluwande bake muffins, talk about family, and process trauma.

Archie waggles her eyebrows at Jim as Oluwande slips under the bedcovers. “We could help you fall asleep. If you want.”
“Oh yeah?” Jim asks, amused. “Gonna knock me out with a crowbar or something?”
“Mmm, even better.” She looks over Jim to where Oluwande is, raising an eyebrow. “Think they’d fall asleep if we got them off?”
Oluwande’s body eases into their space, gentle and warm and gorgeous. Soft tits and round tummy against their back, warm arm winding around their waist under the blankets, thick thighs tucking up behind their legs. She fits perfectly against them, and while she’s not often the big spoon, they still love it when she is.
Her mouth presses against their bare shoulder. “Only one way to find out.”
Jim can't sleep. Archie and Oluwande help them fall asleep in the softest, most pleasurable way.

Because of period-typical sexism, they invent a figurehead for their agency, a man named Edward Teach. Cue Ed, a con man and professional thief who steps into the role after they meet on a case. This series jumps in many months into their working partnership, when the sexual tension growing between them finally breaks.
Or: Edward and Jim communicate about sex, and not much else.
