In English class they are doing Sylvia Plath, this brilliant but depressed poet; and Emily Dickinson, this iconic lesbian that Gwen thinks that there should most definitely be a TV show or something about Emily’s life with Sue.
The teacher rambles on about literary devices and all that, and Gwen really kind of zones out because Peter’s sitting behind her and it’s kind of distracting.
Damn you, Peter Parker.

Peter had a habit of getting into trouble.
Gwen knew this — and she hated it. Each time he came knocking on her window she expected the worst: gashes, bullet wounds, bruises, and well, this time, inhumane scratches. The worst part of it all was wondering if her father was the one to inflict anything on him. She knew she loved Peter because of how she was raised: waiting for her father, gun strapped to his thigh by day, fighting criminals at night. Even if she resented herself for putting another burden of worry on her back — she couldn't help it.
She loved Peter Parker. Wounds and all.

Gwen Stacy hates this fall.
It isn’t even about the fall. Every other time, she knew she would be caught, whether by a web or by Peter himself. Something would be there for her, a line of the thinnest, strongest material on earth, but not this time.
The fall starts in a clock tower.
Of that, Gwen is positive.
One minute, she’s attached to the web, then the line gets cut in the clock’s turning gear, and she drops quickly. The walls around her start to shimmer with a golden glow. Spiderman, reaching out desperately for her, disappears from view.Above her, the sky that was dark ten seconds ago is now a brilliant blue.
Update- final chapter will be added on Feb. 13th and my bad y'all, but if I freaking write it it'll be the longest chapter yet!
