Peter’s been taking some time out of his day recently to appreciate the little things within his working life. The way Neal’s been relatively well behaved for the past few days, the way that Diana has actually been taking time for her personal life, especially with a baby, and the way Jones never fails to make the mood a bit lighter in the van on stakeouts all come to mind. Everything seemed to be looking up for him.

Will’s head turned then, slowly, and it was hard for Rose to understand how he still couldn’t actually see her, when it felt like he was staring straight through her eyes and directly to the back of her skull. “Rose,” he rasped, and her blood crystallized in her veins. This was not her father’s honey-sweet voice. It sounded like gravel running through a rock tumbler. And he never, ever called her just Rose, unless she was in big trouble. “You need to run. NOW.”

“Liar, liar, pants on fire,” Will singsongs, small hands around R2D2. He takes a sip of his own and shrugs, picking his fork back up to spear a bite of pancake. “It grows on you.”
Mike takes another sip and wrinkles his nose.
“It doesn’t have to grow on me. I already like it.”
OR
Mike knows the way Will takes his coffee. Always has, since they were kids. He doesn’t know why, exactly, he couldn’t tell you that information about any of his other friends. Coffee and contemplation and reconnection and something Mike couldn’t put a name to if he tried.
