Through the front window, Zayne sees Rafayel and MC standing on either side of Caleb who is controlling the claw machine. He walks through the front door with Xavier, and Sylus waves them over to the drink counter.
“I know this is somehow your fault,” Zayne mutters to Sylus.
Sylus holds up his hands in surrender. “I’m innocent, officer.”
“Are they almost done?” Xavier asks, leaning against the counter.
“Doubtful,” Sylus replies.
Zayne nods at Caleb’s abandoned milkshake. “Whose is that?”
Sylus slides it in front of Zayne. “It’s yours now.”
Zayne pulls out the used straw and replaces it with a clean one, and when the cold, sugary beverage hits his tongue, he feels some of his stress melt away.

Discomfort swirled inside of you before you muttered, "Uh... a cottagecore life."
There was another silent, though the Mask Boys seemed to be less surprised than the Oxford Shoes because their shoulders just slumped.
"No. Really," hummed the Oxford Shoes White Hair (was that his real hair?), "What do you truly desire?"
You couldn't help but to look at his eye again, "With... pets..."
Oxford Shoes squinted.
You gulped, "A cottagecore life with pets."
He frowned.
Unaware of the Aether Core in your heart, you stumbled in Sylus' life; a yappy, weird woman who just happened to be there. But Sylus would be damned if he admitted how smitten he was, nor how incapable he was in predicting how this story would go.

The difference was a raw vulnerability, a fragility Vyn hadn’t seen much before in his lover. “I don’t want you to have to deal with the cruelty of the media any more than you do now. If I could change it, I would, no matter the cost.”
“I know, I know and I’m sorry. I can just go if it’s a problem. You’re probably busy anyways.” Marius turned to leave. If there was one thing Marius didn’t often care about, it was if he was bothering Vyn’s work. He always protested that Vyn would get it done in time regardless of whether Marius distracted him or not, so why not have fun?
