After a few minutes of silence, Flins opened his eyes again, fighting the remains of the fear toxin and his nausea back to sleep. “Varka.”
“Hmm?” came the reply, still laying there back to back.
Flins hesitated for a moment. “Will we ever stop lying to each other?”
“No, Little Fae.” A pause. “I don't think we will.”
OR: Varka was once a police captain and hero keeping the city of Nod-Krai safe from criminal rogues with his trusted partner Flins, the Lightkeeper. Things came to an end when Varka threw away his morals to pursue his convoluted version of justice, which in turn, caused Flins to leave.
Two years later, life throws Varka the vigilante into rescuing a certain little fae from Rerir and nursing him back to health. He deals with the aftermath... sort of.

"You're not... Phainon, are you?" Mydei couldn't help but say. "You never... over steep the chamomile."
Phainon's hands shook even more. "I'm just," Phainon licked his lips, tongue running nervously over the seam of his lips. "Tired."
"Tired," Mydei repeated. He couldn't help but press Phainon, unnoticing of how Phainon seemed like a nervous wild animal, ready to bolt at any moment. "You never over steep the chamomile." He said once more.
Phainon didn't look at him. "I said I'm just tired," he gritted, more forceful this time.
Involuntary fear crept up Mydei's spine. It was more instinct than rationale, at this point. He knew Phainon would never hurt him on purpose. It was the Reaver.
And yet the Reaver wore Phainon's face and hurt him anyway.

Nobody will know it's because of the one-night stand turned friends-with-benefits arrangement Phainon has with the team's mechanic, Mydei. Who's really hot. Who also kind of hates him.
Also, Phainon destroys a record everytime he bends Mydei over before the race.

Summary
Mydei is but a shadow of the fan-favorite five-time world champion he once was—and now? Forgotten by the world after his father paid for its silence, he chases the fleeting rush of the track. Gone are the days of glory—replaced by him half-babysitting, half-coaching the hotheaded Kremnos rookie.
After watching the new hot topic the media wants to sink their fangs into—namely the new arrogant, but also charmingly boyish Okhema rookie, Phainon—he decides to attend his celebration party. Perhaps, he sees a bit of himself in the man.
He learns Phainon isn't nearly as much of a fuckboy as he thought.
