Summary
Set after “it was enchanting to meet you” - Peter is avoiding Erik in light of recent events.
He told himself it was inevitable. Peter’s embarrassment was understandable. Being reduced to a toddler had been violation enough; having his secret dragged into the light alongside it was worse. Erik was not entitled to anything more than silence. Whatever comfort had passed between them during those strange, impossible days belonged to another version of Peter entirely. A version who no longer existed.
Erik half-expected the distance to last months.
It lasted four days.

Erik has more important matters to deal with right now—and although he had met Peter’s revelation with promise, he knows Erik doesn’t owe him anything. He isn’t a kid anymore.
So Peter goes through his days pretending as if he isn’t eagerly awaiting Erik’s eventual arrival like some pathetic idiot. As if everything is perfectly normal and okay.
But it’s not. It’s not because for the first time, Peter feels like he’s sinking. That with each passing night, each tiring day, he’s drowning. And he can’t do anything about it—doesn’t even know what to do about it.
