Fate is truly smiling on him today, isn’t it? Yes, she laughs, and Kaeya laughs along with her, letting the sound, thin and caustic, slip out of his mouth.
This world, he thinks, is truly fascinating.
He doesn’t realize that he’s said it out loud until Diluc is glancing his direction, aghast look on his face, and then Kaeya is running, running, feet sliding on the mud-slicked ground.

Fridays were the worst, and Scar looked forward to them every week.
His shifts at the zoo were often arduous, and his legs always ached violently from the constant bustle, but Quiz Night always made his day better. Especially with all the turmoils of the city making everyone so jumpy, maybe even himself, he needed this time to be with friends, away from work and the rising rates of villains. And all he needed to do to get to that serenity was to grab his bag from the bird sanctuary and return to the safety of street lamps and his friendly security guard.
But that wasn’t what happened. Because Scar wasn’t alone that night.
