Summary
It was a child. A boy, in full Amestrian military uniform, sporting four stripes and one star. And there, on his jacket collar: a State Alchemists pin.
Roy remembers his first thought, quite immaturely, being hang on, aren't I supposed to be the youngest State Alchemist?
His second, more sensible thought was less coherent and more a visceral flood of fearsome protection and despair, and the accusatory assessment that this was no place for a child.

Horror leeches into her, the breath snatched from her lungs as she looks incredulously at Sam. "That's Cas? Do you even know what that thing is?"

"We are having issues with the DRS."
Roy knows. "I know," he says. "There are four more laps to go."
The China circuit hates him; he is quite sure of it. DRS issues on the final laps while he is desperately fighting for the sweetness of a podium. Last year was the stupid engine — DNF.
"Then hold the fuck on."
"Not helping," Roy snaps. "Do something useful instead of just telling me things I already know."
"It's my job to tell you the issues we're having."
Four more laps. Four. He can do it. This set of soft tires is almost gone. The brakes feel weird. The DRS is fucked. He can do it. Four.
"Edward," he says like it's a curse. "Just shut up and let me drive."
Or the fic in which Roy is a four-time World Champion Formula 1 driver, Edward is a prodigy and his race engineer, their team sucks and they fuck about it. That's it.
