Summary
"Mel--uh, just let Dana know I'm having a bit of a disagreement with a patient, alright? It's fine, all is well." Dennis says, and it feels like he's trying to convince himself more than he is Mel. His voice is a bit high pitched, and it sounds panicked. He knows it does. Mel doesn't say anything, quick on her feet as she scrambles out of the room, the door left open only a crack. Mr. Brunner grabs on tighter, the scalpel seemingly getting just a bit closer.
He knows she saw the scalpel, how could she not? The steel shimmers beneath the fluorescent ER lights, and the smallest bit of blood on the blade must've made it even more visible. Dennis Whitaker was fucked, probably.
or,
Dennis Whitaker swore today was a good one, but a drug seeking man in North 15 makes that a bit difficult.

Frank Langdon had always wanted to be something.
And for a while he was. He was a fourth-year resident in the ED doing what he loved, saving lives. He was married to an amazing woman and had two wonderful children. He had done all the steps, all the things that were supposed to make him a happy, well-rounded adult.
So why did he still feel empty?

The news also came as an incredible shock to Ilya when he awoke that same day, hungover and bleary, but very much alive.

Summary
It didn't take Robby (or really, any of the doctors in the ED) long to figure out Langdon's diagnosis, even though he'd never said anything about it. It was pretty obvious, to be honest, and he didn't really care if they knew. Their reactions, however, he was more worried about.

Summary
“Are you cold?” Robby asks, taking in Frank’s shaking arms as he crosses them over his chest in an attempt to hide the tremors.
“They’re withdrawal symptoms,” Frank snarks, voice hoarse and so unlike the casual confidence he usually exudes. “I thought you were a doctor.”
“I thought you weren’t an addict,” Robby responds coolly.

“Do you want to come to my place? Have dinner?”
He blinks. He knows the question is a lot for someone like her. To extend such an invitation, bring someone into her space. Into her comfort.
What kind of a dick would he be to say no?
