Summary
“This is Ilya. Rozanov. But you already know that. He’s visiting and we’re—” Ilya refused to let him drown in front of his parents, he gave them the bluntest truth he had: “Lovers.”
“Ilya—no. That’s gross.”
And Ilya (who had spent years being careless but was trying to be careful and worthy) in that moment decided that if they were doing this, then they were doing it properly. Because they're not lovers. Not after last night, when Ilya’s “I could marry Svetlana” had caused Shane Hollander looked at him like he’d rather commit a murder-suicide than let him go... and proposed.
“Engaged. We’re engaged.”
If he gave his future father-in-law a heart attack, was that a bad start… or just proof Shane Hollander really had made him recklessly in love?

Summary
No serious hockey fan or sports commentator worth their salt would have considered record-breaking Boston superstar Ilya Rozanov to be Shane Hollander’s rival exactly, but sleeping with a man who had a specific offense-related vendetta against him and a wrist shot like a jet engine to back it up was probably ill-advised just the same.
Or, Shane is a goalie. Ilya can’t score.

I fucking love it when authors leave a bunch of citations in the notes. Shane being a goalie and being allowed to unmask more is smth I didn’t know I needed til now and oh my god it’s written SO WELL!!!
It’s always a nice read when you can tell the author loves hockey and understands the sport. -

Summary
“Were you sleeping with Rose Landry?” LeClaire asked, and Ilya felt his entire world flip upside down.
Ilya scoffed and sank into the chair. He stared at his lap and, for a second, wished he could just say yes. It would have been easier. A simpler explanation. Something everyone else could swallow. “No,” he answered instead. “I was not sleeping with Landry.”
Coach sighed, the weight of it settling uncomfortably in the office. “So it was Hollander, then.”
Or
Ilya gets called into his Coach's office after Rose and Shane start dating and an uncomfortable conversation takes place. Ilya realizes some things. Also he may need to stop reading his thesaurus.

“Four parents, because they all have different jobs.”
Shane worried. Ilya indulged. Ruby had sorted them accordingly. Leave it to their daughter to emotionally adopt two professional hockey players without consulting them first.
Hayden did his very best to not show how absolutely insane he thought this all was. “Oh,” he sighed, filling the silence while giving himself more time to process. He didn’t really know what to say to that. “So this isn’t emotional or relational for you. You’re just… sorting us?”
Ruby nodded again. “Like Pokémon.”
Jackie made a mental note to go get her tested.
