"Shh, praise me later for my heroics! Don't worry your pretty little butt about a thing. Old DP will take good care of you! Scout's honor."
For some reason, Peter was not as opposed to this as he maybe should be. Deadpool is a killer. Peter shouldn't feel safe with him.
But he does.

Being a lone vigilante is hard, alright? Between being Spider-Man, grad school, and his job at the Bugle, Peter really doesn't have time for friends. So when Deadpool starts to tag along on his patrols more and more often, Peter really doesn't object as much as he thinks he should. How is it his fault when the ex-mercenary worms his way into his heart with his obnoxious jokes, and fake flirting, and weirdly genuine kindness?

"Really, I don't know how you manage it, Zuko. I wanted to bash my head into the table, like, 30 minutes in."
Zuko snorts, "If I did that every time I got the urge, nothing would ever get done around here."
"Still, it's impressive! A few years ago, I wouldn't have thought of you as a patient leader, but you really fit the role, Zuko."
Zuko glances over at Sokka from the corner of his eye, "You think so?"
Sokka grins, "I know so! Trust me, I'd tell you if you were doing horrible."
At that, Zuko laughs, and the sound makes Sokka's heart soar. Back when the war was going on, a laugh from Zuko was unheard of. It was hard to even get him to smile. But now, 3 years after Zuko's coronation, his smiles aren't as few and far between as they once were.

Zuko knows he's in love with his best friend. He also knows he can never have him the way his heart wants. He's fine with that, as he keeps telling himself.
Or: 3 years after the war ended, Zuko and Sokka are as close as ever, but both seem to yearn for a little more. One of them just has to realize that their feelings aren't as unrequited as they think.

"Sh-" Izuku broke out into a fit of coughs - was there dust in his lungs? He tried again, "Shouto?"

He has Batman’s heartbeat memorized. It’s a few ticks slower than everyone else. It’s calming, and it’s something Clark listens to more than he should. Far more. When they’re next to each other. When they’re fighting together. When Clark is lying in bed at night, anxious without reason, he closes his eyes and listens for that familiar drum beat. He doesn’t track it, doesn’t listen for how far it is or where it’s located. He can’t risk accidentally revealing Batman’s identity. He just listens. It’s like a strange sort of lullaby, and it works every time.
It's a dependency, he knows.
