This time. It’s hard for me to trust it’ll be different.” Garcia’s confusion flashes across her face, and remains long enough for Trinity to catch it when she glances back at her. She barrels on before she can lose her pluck. “When I went to you about Langdon.” Garcia’s face drops at the pain strewn across Trinity’s face. “You didn’t believe me. You told me I was trouble. I didn’t fully explain to you why that hurt so much.”

“What?” She stared at Javadi, trying to figure out if maybe the other woman had finally grown a backbone and decided to start fucking with Trinity.
“Well, the two of you always come in together and you leave together and you bicker all the time…” Javadi trailed off, glancing between them.
Unable to stop herself, Trinity began laughing. Cackling, really. A loud, snorting laugh that she hadn’t heard from herself in ages.
“It’s not that funny,” Whitaker said with a long-suffering look on his sad little face.
“I’m a lesbian, crash. That’s why it’s funny. He’s my roommate. My very platonic roommate.”
“You haven’t noticed her whole thing with Doctor Garcia?” Whitaker said, clear retribution for Trinity’s laughing spell. “Everyone’s been talking about it.”

“Mom’s useless,” Santos mutters. “Dad’s not around.”
“Friends?” Garcia asks expectantly after a beat.
Santos rolls her functioning eye and tries once again to swallow without anything hurting. “Historically—bad at those,” she croaks.
“Color me surprised,” Garcia deadpans, then types again and does a few clicks. “Well, I already have this week off for a vacation that got cancelled last-minute, so you can stay with me for your initial recovery.”
She says it all without batting an eyelash, and Santos tries to remember whether concussions can cause hallucinations.

Victoria’s face burns. Every inch of her burns. She can’t make herself say anything but Trinity is unrelenting, staring at her with those too-green eyes, and she tumbles to pieces spectacularly. Her voice drops, only barely above a whisper. “I had a dream about you.”
Trinity’s expression shifts instantaneously. Her gaze goes distinctly knowing and it only makes Victoria want to squirm even more than she already is. It’s all so humiliating, so mortifying, so why is the same heat that she had been overcome by this morning starting to build inside of her again? “What kind of dream, Crash?”
Victoria shifts her weight from one foot to the other, fixes her gaze directly at the piece of wall that appears above Trinity’s right shoulder. “You know what kind of dream.”
“I think I need to hear you say it.” Trinity uses a finger to tilt Victoria’s head up slightly, forcing direct eye contact once again. Victoria would probably feel more nervous if Trinity didn’t sound so deeply pleased with this revelation. “Did you have a sex dream about me, Victoria Javadi?”

Trinity had nearly choked on her drink and was now gaping at Samira as she said, “Wait, you’ve really never been eaten out before? Ever?”
Samira felt herself flush with embarrassment. “Stop staring at me like that, it’s really not a big deal,” she said, taking a long sip of her drink, grimacing slightly at the strength of it. “The sex I’ve had has been perfectly adequate, thank you.”
“Adequate?” Trinity’s stare just intensified. “Samira, that’s possibly the saddest thing I’ve ever heard.”
“You know, if you wanted to we could…” she trailed off, raising her brows as Samira tried to wrap her head around what she was pretty sure Trinity was implying.
“Seriously?” Samira asked in disbelief.
“Why not?” Trinity shrugged. “You’re hot. I’m hot. You’ve apparently been having the saddest, most lackluster sex that anyone has ever had. I’ve only ever gotten rave reviews from everyone I’ve ever hooked-up with. Sounds like the perfect friends-with-benefits recipe to me. But if you’re not into the idea, that’s totally fine. No hard feelings.”

Because there was definitely no way that Samira Mohan just said that she would be Trinity’s date to her high school best friend’s wedding. It’s a bad idea for a million different reasons, but first and foremost, “I don’t think you understand. I made it sound like I was dating someone. They think I’m going to be bringing my girlfriend.”
“Okay,” Samira replies without taking even a second to consider it, which makes Trinity feel more than a little dizzy. Maybe she needs to sit down. “What’s the problem? You don’t think I can pull it off? Am I not your type?”
A strangled sounding laugh bubbles past Trinity’s lips before she can stop it, her gaze dropping down the length of Samira’s body and back up again. “That’s absolutely not the problem here.”
