News of his survival spread far and wide, prompting even rody Lamoree to purchase the newspaper. Despite his resentment for Vincent, Rody couldn't ignore the sight of the chef's terrible condition. Reluctantly, he found himself forced to care for Vincent and eventually offering him shelter. Little did he know, he would soon find himself falling for his executioner.

Rody observed vincent quietly as his hands trembled while gripping the pen tightly, noticing how he winced from the burn marks that ached with every movement. Despite this, Rody remained silent, watching Vincent write on a piece of paper with exhaustion.
Vincent's penmanship had deteriorated, becoming messy and full of mistakes, but Rody didn't dwell on it. Instead, he lifted his weary gaze to meet Vincent's own. "Am i supposed to be grateful to survive this?" Vincent wrote shakily.
"Didn't I tell you not to move?" Rody replied, his frown deepening. With a sigh, Rody stood up, avoiding Vincent's true question.
"We'll be going to bed hungry tonight until my next paycheck."

Summary
Getting tricked into fighting a much more dangerous monster than he'd been hired for isn't unusual for Technoblade. If it were any normal kind of monster, he would recalibrate his plan to fit the new obstacle and overcome it, then he'd return to town and intimidate appropriate pay out of whatever sorry sod had thought they could trick him.
This, however, is not a normal monster, and now Technoblade's lost his vision. Sharp eyesight isn't all that makes a good Witcher, but he's never heard any tales of a blind Witcher before. Probably for a reason. Those Witcher who have come before him likely haven't been rescued by a child, either, and then subsequently become reliant on the little boy who wears bells on his wrists and laughs like the sun rises for him. He can ignore the strange occurrences that seem to keep popping up if it means Tommy can lead him to someone who can help him get his vision back.
If he comes to trust him along the way, then so what. He needs more friends.

Tommy quieted down at that, staring at Dream for a second. "Can I tell you something, big man?"
Dream, curious of the sudden change of demeanor, raised a brow. "Shoot."
A sigh escaped Tommy's lips, "I- well, I don't actually have a family, not really, anyway." Tommy quietly muttered, doing his best not to reveal the dishonesty leaking out of his words. "My real family died when I was a kid, and I miss them a lot. But, well, the replacement of a family I have now aren't good people. I just- I just don't want to go home to them." And although he knew he was lying straight through his teeth, he couldn't help but feel a truth to his words. They really weren't the family he grew up with. "Can I please stay with you?"

Or, Tommy had been abandoned and neglected by his family for years. In an attempt to make himself lovable, he trained himself to become the "perfect human". Eventually, he realizes it won't be enough.
Meanwhile Dream meets a quiet kid on a bus and calls dibs.
