As a god he has a responsibility to those in need of him, and he cannot shirk his duty even for the dream of a reunion.

Summary
Above all else, Vash cares for the brother he just got back. He loves Nai, would do anything for him, even if it means giving his body to Knives — the other personality inside his brother. If it means saving Nai's life, he'll willing walk into the lion's jaws. Vash just needs to make sure Nai never finds out.
It is, unfortunately, a task that is easier said than done.
