Zoey always finds a way to do this. Any time Rumi tells the other two that she’s going to be locking herself away for her rut, she inevitably finds one of Zoey’s shirts hidden away in her room. Tucked underneath covers or folded neatly on her dresser. Once hung up on the back of the bathroom door. Always with Zoey’s scent all over it, more than just the remnants left over after laundering.
It kills Rumi. It saves her.

Summary
“I have a proposal.”
All noise save for the tv stopped. If it wasn’t for the dubbed-over David Attenborough coming through the speakers, the sound of a pin dropping would have seemed like thunder. Both Mira and Zoey froze, a piece of popcorn falling out of Mira’s open mouth to land on Zoey’s stomach as they both slooooooowly turned to look at their leader. Their eyes were as large as saucers, as their innermost thoughts from moments ago resurfaced in an instant. Both could feel the heat in their cheeks as they blushed. Then Rumi started to laugh, breaking the spell. They both took breaths that they didn’t know they had been holding.
“You should see your faces! Both of you! You looked like you were going to pass out. Or summon your weapons! Did I grow horns or something? Or …”
She then started to laugh even harder as Mira and Zoey, faces still frozen in shock, turned to look at each other before scowling suspiciously. They then started to sputter simultaneously, trying to explain away the situation.
“Seriously. What did I say? Did you … wait. Did … Did you think I was proposing? Is the idea that scary to you two that .. I mean, I … well, I wouldn’t … Ya know, what? Forget it.”

Summary
When faced with the worst the world could offer, you have a choice. In the moment, you may not even know you're making it.
You can respond to the darkness with bitter apathy; this was the worst choice of all. You do nothing, turn your back, and decide you and your own will remain above it all.
Another response, seen as the best response, is to decide to change it, to work the system to make things better. In another universe, Charlie would've taken that choice in a heartbeat, become Hell's bleeding heart, been oblivious to the hurt she may cause. In doing this, she would have to rein in her power, make a better world by being good and kind.
But in this universe, Charlie takes another option, one that may blow up in her face if she is not careful. She has seen the darkness of the world, and it lit a flame of rage in her heart. She got smarter, she grew skilled, and she decided if the system was put to get her, she would make it her life's work to destroy the system.

Caitlyn panicked, feeling extraordinarily unprepared having been thrust into her new position without so much as even a handbook to consult. What were the formalities? What was she supposed to respond with? Where was the damn push to talk button…
“Hellooo? I said Houston, do you copy?”
Caitlyn fiddled with her headset, having finally found the green button on the side and hastily letting out a rather breathless reply. “Um, yes. Hello? This is Houston. I copy.”
There was a long pause in which Caitlyn sat twiddling her thumbs, anxiety pushing the frantic pulse of her heartbeat through her eardrums. Was that wrong? Did she already fuck up? She took a steady deep breath, finger hovering over the talk button until the familiar voice of the astronaut came through her headset once more.
“Damn, Houston. I didn’t expect you to sound so sexy.”
OR
Caitlyn has been assigned as the personal capcom to one of the astronauts currently on a year long expedition at the international space station. Cue long months of pining and desperate longing.

Summary
Rumi can't control her emotions no matter how desperately she wants to. She's been isolated her whole life except for Celine and various tutors. She finally gets to meet her destined soulmates and wants nothing more than to have them be hers in any shape or form but hates disappointing Celine.
Celine wants Rumi to understand that she can't have her way until she gets her emotions under control and her patterns are gone. She's will do anything to protect her adoptive daughter.
Mira is sick and tired of Rumi being a stuck up princess while also trying to respect Zoey's decision to bring all three of them closer. Eventually Mira realizes something is seriously wrong and tries to convince Zoey.

“Oh Rumi” she says, cupping her cheek, the warmth of her palm sinking into her skin.
“Don’t ruin these young girls' lives. Leave them alone. They have a whole world ahead of them” Celine pulls away and heads for the door but at the last moment she turns to look back at her, “don’t let your selfishness be the thing that kills them”
or. What if Celine hadn't turned Rumi into a hunter? what if she had seen the abomination of a child that had been left to her and thought she might as well turn her into something useful.
and then set off to find the next generation of hunters.

A very impressive and interesting look at the scenario of a military advancement and acquisition of the Vee’s tower, culminating in the deaths of its namesake. Charlie seeing an obstacle to redemption and choosing to assert her power and eliminate the obstacle seemingly sparking a war in Hell.
